Dolly’s final gift. At a time of extreme ugliness and hate, she has inspired an outpouring of love. It’s still out there, folks. Nowadays, that can be easy to forget.

These days the text chain I’ve had with my best friends from middle school for 20+ years has evolved into a complex medical diagnoses text chain & I don’t know what to say except keep your loved ones close, the silly jokes you traded in your 20s and 30s pay off in earnest love and hope in your 40s

Hereafter by @sfreligh.bsky.social is a novella-in-flash that feels like a guiding light for the genre. a tiny book I read slowly because I didn’t want it to end, even if I cried at every other flash. head to @adhocfiction.bsky.social and get your tissues ready #smokelong #blurbchallenge
Apocalyptic climate change nightmare? Or just the sky and sun on my drive home today?
Woke up to the smog in the air, but worse than that is the total silence. The normal bird sounds are gone.

Frightening now the number of toiletries I feel the need to pack when I travel, while in my 20s I prided myself in taking some sunscreen, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste!
Here is how I would celebrate 250 years of America if I were president: By reducing executive power, by reforming campaign finance to get $ out of politics, by feeding unhoused people on the national mall, by refusing flyovers because weapons of war are not toys, & war is always tragic

Had the creepiest experience when I had to pull over in very rural northwest PA today and was confronted by a man and his son… very Flannery O’Connor type rural folks threatening me in a none too subtle way behind an aww shucks demeanor…on the other hand, my next short story is going to write itself
Currently in Akron. It’s cool in that Midwestern way that property and land that doesn’t cost millions can actually be artistically remade by those other than corporate conglomerates. Or else that’s how it seems to me.
