One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. I’m gutted by the news of Glen Hansard’s death. We saw him in Toronto in April. Every one of his shows felt like a gathering of friends. He was a brilliant musician and I’m so sorry for his family.
A sad day in New Brunswick for our proud pressmen, the community, and the history of the newspaper.

Wait, so CN Rail abandoned three freight trains carrying “combustible and flammable materials” near a First Nations community? “OPP disclosed shortly before 5:00 pm Tuesday that three trains carrying combustible and flammable materials were stopped and staged near … Collins First Nation”
Freight trains hauling combustible products stopped by wildfire
OPP said three CN trains were halted on the track because of forest fires in the Armstrong area.

Why is CN Rail operating freight trains in the middle of areas with active wildfires? Are these trains transporting flammable or explosive cargo? “A spokesperson for [CN Rail] wrote back to confirm “that the crew was safely evacuated from the area,” but offered no other details”
‘We’re encased in flames’: Rail worker captures harrowing video as wildfire closes in on CN train
The scenes outside the window of the train are breathtaking. A wall of flame engulfs the treeline just feet away from tracks.

This video is wild. Scary wild.
You might be cool, but you’ll never be Canadian National Railway locomotive engineers in the middle of a northern Ontario forest fire cool. 🔥🔥🔥 This is near Armstrong, Ontario. 240 kms (150 miles) north of Thunder Bay. The crew made it out safely. www.threads.com/@guy_fawkes_...
Wally Funk was a pioneer and a very smart – and cool – member of the Mercury 13. What an incredible life and what a role model for younger women.
Breaking News: Wally Funk, the trailblazing female pilot who, at 82, became the oldest person to fly in space, has died at 87.

Federal sentencing has started. Zachary Evetts was just sentenced to 50 years by Chief District Judge Reed O'Connor. Maricela Rueda was just sentenced to 840 months / 70 years by Judge Mark Pittman.
If rumours are to be believed I'll be living with a seventh different Prime Minister shortly. If it carries on like this I'm going to stop making the effort to learn their names.

I've reported on Musk for around 8 years. I've co-authored a book on him. I don't think folks understand the rate of his wealth accumulation. Shortly after he helped elect Donald Trump in Nov 2024, his net worth was around $350 billion. That net worth has nearly tripled in less than two years.
The idiocy of this statement is sort of unbelievable. The one thing Northern Irish loyalists do *not* want is to be Irish.
Kilmeade to an agreeing Markwayne Mullin: "In Belfast they're standing up because their leaders have let them down. They're trying to take their country back. They want to label them as racist. All they want to be is Irish. They want Ireland back. I see a lot of the same fights here."

This would also seemingly affect international tourists who are willing to visit, spend money and add to the economies of these cities. So ... ending flights for tourists to major cities in the U.S.? Am I missing something? Is my assumption incorrect?
Cutting off New York, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and other major ports of entry/departure from international flights would be the biggest self-inflicted wound to our economy since closing the Strait of Hormuz. The costs would be ridiculous. thehill.com/homenews/adm...
