Nutria for now. Orange teeth were result of a cosmetic procedure. I think I look much better now.

Yes, I also remember, before this, when Republicans refused to help scientists and doctors address the AIDS crisis because Ronald Reagan was afraid that if he was compassionate to gay men bigots like Jerry Falwell wouldn't help him get re-elected.

Fair use is vital to protect journalism, commentary, and public debate. A half-baked fair use analysis shouldn’t be enough to shield a copyright holder from liability for a wrongful DMCA takedown. That’s why we’ll be filing an appeal in this case. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

Court Rules Against Citizen Journalists in DMCA Takedown Case—EFF

A federal court in Massachusetts has ruled that copyright holders can issue online takedown notices based on a subjective belief of copyright infringement, even when that belief is unreasonable and

Let me show you something beautiful. Awakening, 1993 by Ivan Marchuk. It’s exhibited in Ukraine for the first time. Came from New York, where it remained for many years as part of Ukraine’s cultural presence. There are several versions of the painting. But all mean the same: awakening of Ukraine.

Washington DC, US. A demonstrator dressed as a blood-covered Lady Justice attends a Defend the Vote rally at the Lincoln Memorial. A new system to screen millions of mail-in ballots for this November’s US midterm elections was thrown together so hastily, and tested so little, that a single scanning glitch could lead to entire batches of ballots being turned away, a whistleblower has told Congress. I purchased this despondent duck lamp for my desk and was notified today that my “baby item” had arrived and I cannot get over the idea of someone using this in a baby’s room. Like “welcome to your depressing life little baby, it only gets worse from here.”

The semi viral laying duck lamp. It’s a glowing really depressed looking duck splayed out on a desk.

After ICE left empty-handed, I headed back to my car, drained and worried we had failed the family. A woman one street down came over and thanked me for pushing back against ICE. She said that she had been afraid to leave her home. That made me feel a little better. Like we had done some good.

A sign on neon yellow poster board that says, “Love Your Neighbor.”

We’ve completely switched to only dropping our ballots in county ballot collection boxes. Thankfully at least in our area they aren’t hard to find.

While Lake America v. Lake Ontario grabs headlines, Trump’s latest temper tantrum will in fact -raise the cost of lumber/construction -keep inflation high -reduce US wine/spirits exports -disrupt auto parts supply chains and raise prices/hurt the manufacturing sector See: lose-lose governance

#ResistanceRoots Today in history, 1988: Lee Roy Young is sworn in as the first Black Texas Ranger. The Texas Rangers weren’t just segregated within their ranks. They had a history of enforcing white racial hegemony across the state. Young’s appointment altered the course of the agency’s history.

Lee Roy Young. Young Jr. was uniquely qualified to become the first African American Texas Ranger. As a direct descendant of the legendary Seminole Negro Indian Scouts, he carried the DNA of renowned frontier trackers. He grew up in segregated Brackettville, Texas, and learned to speak fluent Spanish — a skill that later proved invaluable in his work along the border. He mastered every tier of state policing — serving in Capitol Security, patrolling the border as a State Trooper and executing undercover operations in the Intelligence Division. Holding degrees in sociology and criminology, Young passed the rigorous written exams and oral boards multiple times, proving his placement was based on merit. Stepping into a 94-man force amid intense legal friction between the state and the NAACP, he resisted political distractions and let an unvarnished record prove his worth.
