In 2022, Raleigh eliminated minimum parking requirements. Critics called it “helping developers.” Now, North Carolina has adopted the same policy statewide with bipartisan support. Data shows it helps reduce the cost of housing and environmental impacts. www.newsobserver.com/news/busines...

NC just ended most parking requirements for developers. Here’s what it could mean.

North Carolina's HB 162 removes most local parking minimums starting 2027, cutting development costs and easing flooding risks.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 I’m grateful to live openly and serve my city. Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate. It’s also a time to thank the folks who came before us, fought for progress, and made it possible for so many people to live more authentically today. Love rules.

Adopting a Vision Zero plan was one of my top priorities. Raleigh started implementing the plan in 2021, and data shows meaningful improvements with fewer pedestrian injuries and deaths. I believe we have a responsibility to keep investing in proven strategies that save lives. #ralpol

As my time on City Council winds down this year, I’ve been reflecting on what we’ve accomplished. Sometimes I see reminders, like today when I saw these tenant notification signs, an initiative CM Stewart and I spearheaded my first term to include renters in city decisions.

Rents are falling because new supply is absorbing demand. “Raleigh and other Sunbelt cities are experiencing a concept known as "filtering," and it's happening quickly due to the country's fastest rate of apartment construction in nearly a half century.” www.axios.com/local/raleig...

Rents at Raleigh's oldest apartments fall amid record new apartment openings

Pretty neat to watch something you helped facilitate rise out of the ground 🏘️ Cottages of Idlewild: 18 permanently affordable homes on land previously owned by the city. We initiated this project in 2020 and missing middle housing reform changes also made it possible. #ralpol

Today is Election Day. I'd be honored to earn your vote for Wake County Commission. Polls are open until 7:30 p.m. If you haven't voted yet, there's still time. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. I am proud of the campaign we've built across Wake County.

I’m honored to have earned endorsements from leaders across our community: environmental advocates, voting rights champions, students, neighborhood leaders, the largest LGBTQ+ political organization in the country, and the editorial board of our region’s largest newspaper.

I am honored to receive the endorsement of the The News & Observer. As Wake County navigates rapid growth and a shifting federal funding landscape, experience matters. I’m ready to continue putting my local government experience to work for every resident of Wake County.
