The job felt through, but I just remember the feeling of sick emptiness at leaving him behind. I love my cat very much, but it’s also a lot what he represents. The truth is to be trans in the UK is to choose your home or your rights and wellbeing. How do you make that choice even if you can?

Harvested some new potatoes for dinner, strawberries, and scapes (onion flowers). Growing three varieties of potatoes: charlotte, purple, and maris piper. Apart from the purple variant, the other two were grown from supermarket potatoes that had started sprouting. #garden #vegetables #greenspaces

In 2015, the UK was ranked first in Europe for LGBTI rights. Two years ago, just before the election of Keir Starmer, we were 16th. Today the UK is ranked 22nd.

This hits hard. I've stopped enjoying lots of things I used to, conversations with my partner about buying treats for ourselves are framed in a context of "Well we might not be in a position to do this in the future, so might as well treat ourselves now". The future just feels hopeless.

The final moment for me was to get out of writing my PhD thesis as I spiralled into an emotional blackhole. Approached my prof and said "I'm trans and it's all too much so I'm going to transition" he was amazing and supportive but told me I still had to write the thesis... So that was a fun time 😅
