BREAKING: The UK equalities watchdog’s 'transphobic' code of practice is set to face a legal challenge, it has been announced A pre-action letter sent to the EHRC and the UK Government says the guidance is being challenged for 'unlawful misstatements of the law'

Damaging new guidance from the EHRC will shut out Trans people from daily life simply for existing, and anyone who doesn't conform to narrow ideas of how people should look could face suspicion and confrontation. We are taking a stand against this attack on human rights.

Just a reminder that: - this isn't for workplaces and if your work is trying to implement it scare them over discrimination claims - the onus is on the service provider, not the service user to comply - the code *itself* says enforcement of toilet facilities is unworkable and low priority

EHRC Code of Practice comes into effect today so remember to be an absolute pain in the arse to any service provider who is trying to actively enforce it.

The EHRC code of practice comes in today, bringing in to the UK the most draconian regime for single sex spaces targeting trans people for a liberal democracy in the industrialised, under what is our nominally left of centre governing party.

Once the Supreme Court ruling happened this was a forgone conclusion, but still part of me never thought I’d see explicit trans exclusion be implemented completely unchallenged. Shame on everyone who let this happen. We will not forget.

From today, thanks to the EHRC, and Labour Equalities Minister and new party chair Bridget Phillipson MP: the UK has the dubious honour of having the only bathroom ban in Western Europe. Segregationist, undignified, disrespectful, ridiculous, weird, confusingly passive-aggressive. We won’t comply.

“I honestly think it's quite disrespectful to have politicians trying to involve themselves in discussions about puberty blockers when they have no experience in the field…” Medical decisions about gender transition should prioritise the views of trans folks, not politicians who reject trans lives.

Science and politics collide in fraught puberty blockers debate

The fierce debate over puberty blockers has become a collision of science and politics. To try to address a fractured consensus, the federal government is attempting to lay the groundwork for a nation...

Burnham: What are those mournful sounds? EHRC (looking down into the river): It’s the trans people grieving the robbery of their rights Burnham: Blasted water sprites! (To EHRC) Stop them bothering us!

Remember that these swine don’t actually believe this and are actively promoting bigotry and intolerance towards the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. This speaks both to the corruption of the institution and the lack of integirity of those who work for its social media team.

It's illegal to discriminate against someone because of a protected characteristic. The Equality Act safeguards nine characteristics, including religion or belief. That extends to not believing in any #religion. Find out more: https://ow.ly/6C7450Zv1gO

So 'nice', 'liberal' Andy Burnham is going to preside over by far the largest peacetime roll-back of human rights in the history of the UK. But he is going to remove our human rights "compassionately' "Compassionate oppression" will be the graffitti on his gravestone.

So, the UK is hosting the European IDAHOBIT day next year. I'm pretty sure they agreed because they think it's the International day against homosexual, bi, intersex and trans people. Can't think of another reason they'd humiliate themselves

A message to trans + people in the UK. Carry on using the facilities you feel most comfortable in from tomorrow. Your comfort matters. Your right to exist in public life matters. The guidance is completely unworkable and it will fail!!

The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights has written an op-ed about growing hostility towards LGBTI+ people in countries including the UK, calling on governments to "double down on the simple promise that human rights belong to everyone". Read more: www.coe.int/en/web/commi...

“Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, trans people are pushed to the margins of society. “The attacks and intolerance do not happen in a vacuum. The undermining of the rights of LGBTI people serves as the tip of the spear in a broader backlash against human rights protection overall.”

Does Europe still believe in human rights? In an op-ed in EUObserver, I warn that the undermining of the rights of LGBTI people serves as the tip of the spear in a broader backlash against human rights protection overall. #WorldPride www.coe.int/en/web/commi...
