Math education, Ed tech, curriculum - UDL and accessibility. Former teacher/coach in deaf Ed. I have a baby (toddler!?!), he exists because of science.

Deaf/signing friends.. my school has us do an “enrichment”.. 9 weeks, every other day, 75 minutes each time, 5th grade. I plan to do an intro to ASL..give students a little ASL/Deaf culture spark but I’m not sure how to structure it. Anyone done anything similar or have suggestions for a structure?

I think there was a reason behind the IM change of WODB to “which three go together” and I wanted to give it a chance to be just the same but it’s not. Harder to write down student thinking, more difficult to ensure that all the different pictures are addressed. #ITeachMath

My 4 year old had a hard lock down drill today and now all evening he’s been saying he’s scared and worried about “the dangerous person” coming to his house or school and I knew this day was coming but I’m still so very mad about it.

Anyone have any very engaging activities to keep kids learning after testing is done grades final? They'll have laptops for a bit but I've been told they collect them pretty early before the end of the year so there will be at least a week maybe two with no laptops.

For the second time this year, I’m a victim of budget cuts and my coaching position is being eliminated 😭. Please let me know if you know of anything math ed related (or something education adjacent)! Thanks!

A month into my new math coaching job, I’m really enjoying being back in a school and getting to work w teachers and students but I feel like I’m going to struggle being in a big county. There is a lot of support, which is nice and in opposition to my tiny school coaching job, but the testing 1/3

Anyone happen to know any grants that non-profits can apply for for curriculum.. and/or specifically creating stem materials.. and/or specifically for underserved populations?

I just saw a commercial for Botox and there were testimonials from people explaining why they needed it and they had TWO people saying “I smile a lot” and the fact that we feel like we need to hide the evidence of us smiling??? Makes me soso sad (at least I won’t have to worry about crows feet!?!)

My (curriculum) company laid off almost all of its curriculum team last week, myself included. The kept some of us around to finish out our current projects, some they axed immediately. Looking for a new job in curriculum is rough because districts seem to usually hire internally, curriculum +

Math language question (as per usual). ✅“There are dozens of snakes” ✅”There are hundreds of snakes” ✅”There are thousands of snakes” 🤔”There are tens of snakes” Why?

One thing I actually love about teacher social media is that you can totally tell who’s a great teacher by the way they talk about kids (in general and their students specifically). It’s really nice to hear people talk so fondly about students.
