I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

This is a great example of what's called "pluralistic ignorance" -- the phenomenon whereby most people share a particular view, but they *don't think other people share it*. In this case: most people are concerned about climate change but think others aren't.

I said this back in January and I’ll say it now: the relative openness of Minnesota’s resistance has been a strength. It allowed huge numbers of people to take part while allowing virtually anyone to confirm that the purpose of the anti-ICE networks was nothing illegal, just legal observation.
