Join us on our learning journey through the year. ✏️📚 Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. We will attend outdoor learning on a Thursday.

It was lovely to see such a fantastic effort put in with our World Book Day costumes. There was a real buzz for reading in our classroom and we were lucky to share this during paired reading with primary 6. 📚

We have been working on our fitness during this block of PE. We enjoyed trying out the different stations as we moved around. 🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

Using our inference skills we studied the short clip ‘Origin’. We had great discussions around where the robot could have come from and his story using the clues.

Tying in with our current IDL topic of The Romans we built our own Roman forts during outdoor learning. There were lots of details to consider to keep ourselves safe.

On Safer Internet Day we enjoyed tuning into the BBC live lesson. We then followed this discussing how to keep ourselves safe online and while using devices.

During children’s mental health week we used the story ‘My Many Coloured Days’ to explore how we often feel differently day to day. We created our gratitude jars and enjoyed discussing all of the things we are grateful for. We also joined with @lauriestonp3.bsky.social to do mindfulness yoga. 🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏻‍♂️

This term we continue to work on our Punchy Punctuation. We are becoming increasingly confident in finding and identifying the missing punctuation in the sentences. 🕵🏼✏️

During outdoor learning we brought ‘Stick Mannies’ family to life. We had to recall lines of the story to remember which family members to include. 📚🌳🪾

For our writing task we kept with our Scottish focus and made Cranachan. We then wrote up the instructions, recalling the main steps we followed. 📝😋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Inspired by our Scottish book study of ‘Stick Mannie’ we created our own stick characters. We gathered some natural materials from our local woods to help us. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📚

Our 3 Scottish poetry finalists and overall winner S. A very well done to all who learned and performed their poems. 👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Applying the strategy of visualisation we listened to a description and the sounds of Excitable Edgar before drawing what we thought he would look like. We shared our ideas with peers before revealing the real Edgar in his Christmas advert. ✍🏼👂🏼🎨🎄

To finalise our Scottish Book Week celebrations we had books and biscuits in the woods today. With it also being World Children’s Day we afterwards enjoyed ‘Fun 31’ honouring children’s right to play. 📚🪵🌳

We kicked off Scottish Book Week with a trip along to our Laurieston Lab. We enjoy exploring and borrowing new books and having the opportunity to read with a friend. 📚
