New Moon tonight. Clear weather for once. Getting some data to add to a target I started on in September last year. Images captured so far seem to be improving as the night goes on. #astrophotography #astronomy

Can't win. There's lightning to the north now, not sure what way it is moving. But the flashes are lighting up the sky and making a mess with of things. Going to shutdown for the night.
So it's night 3 just starting. Had some technical issues over the last 2 nights, but still managed to get 7 hours of data on my target before it got too low. With various fixes applied today, things are going well... So far at least. #astrophotography

Strange phenomenon here tonight. Clear skies, no cloud. Feels weird.... Also trying to get some data for an image. Might have a 3 night run if I am lucky. #astrophotography

This article is timely for me after a recent trip to Charleville and dealing with pathetic slow chargers and their idiosyncrasies: theconversation.com/fragmented-a...
Fragmented and incomplete: why isn’t anyone in charge of Australia’s EV charger rollout?
Australia’s EV transition is gathering pace – but fixing gaps in the public charger network will be essential for the shift to continue.

Lines of clouds in the blue sky. These were a bit stronger and more densely packed a bit before this, but I was driving and couldn't take a pic at the time.
NGC3372, Eta Carinae Nebula. Captured the data in April under challenging conditions. Nearly 7 months since my last astro capture and post here. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
“So, the science is clear – no more fossil fuels is the first step to a phase out and that we need to act with extreme urgency because science has not been at the centre of our political debate." – Louise Morris Read more: https://theaus.in/49egy0w

A potentially 'catastrophic' drop in traffic has outback residents concerned for the rest of the tourist season. Community members in remote Queensland have come together for the grand opening of a new outdoor theatre and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, declaring their town open for business.
Near Girraween NP, this camel did not want to move at all, even as I came closer. So I had to edge pass. Immovable object. 🙂
We left some boxes out on the patio table. Obviously they were going to be commandeered by our cats. #cats #catsinboxes

The Australia Institute has proposed a Climate Disaster Levy on fossil fuel exports to ensure the companies exporting fossil fuels from Australia pay for some of the damage they are causing, rather than leaving Australians to foot the bill. Read more on The Point: https://theaus.in/3N6vLt1
One of the best bits about making my own bread: the smell of it baking.

Will higher fuel prices drive EV uptake? We crunched the numbers
As deepening conflict in the Middle East causes fuel prices to rise, will EVs boom? We've compared operating costs to see how they compare to petrol cars.

Poor Moth and Titania have a parasite that's caused some diarrhoea issues. They've got some food to help, and have had 3 doses of a liquid medicine via a syringe. Very unimpressed with the medicine, both foaming at the taste. However, they are improving now and should be back to a normal diet soon.
Sunlit Moth. Moments before getting a tummy rub. He's the most chill cat and it's mostly not a trap. #cats
Got a bread machine recently and have started making some stuff, including this. Made some naan as well. Eventually I will progress to sourdough.
This wheel is to the boy squirrel the way that the football is to Charlie Brown and it still makes me laugh every time he tries to use it only to be immediately spun.
Our indoor cats were not impressed with the visitor outside. This was the most noisy yet somewhat chill stand off. #cats
