The Ken Jennings kerfuffle, IMO, is a symptom of a wider problem- no one will fucking admit to being/doing something wrong anymore. All he needed to say was "omg, I didn't realize paying the NYT contributes to harm to the trans community. I'm sorry, I'll unsubscribe. Know any Wordle alternatives?"

This, to me, is where Ken trips over himself. Because no, the problem wasn't the snarkiness to a bad take, it was snarkiness to a tepid take. The "take" was "you should think twice about promoting an anti-trans publication because it hurts trans people" And even now Ken wantonly ignores the point

Anyone who knows me even a little, or has even followed me long on social media, already knows this about me. Our institutions are literally trying to erase trans people right now, and it pisses me off. A snarky reply to one bad take on Bluesky doesn’t mean that’s changed at all. ⬇️

I'm begging everyone to understand that LinkedIn's "seems like AI slop" button isn't a pivot toward AI skepticism. It's a move by Microsoft, which owns LinkedIn, to encourage users to flag AI posts that are uncanny so that they can improve their models. This isn't a U-turn. Don't fall for it.

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

Today in Toronto: Yellow. Everything is yellow. Deep yellow. Venus yellow. Also like Venus it's absurdly hot and don't breathe the air it's poison. A new flavour of SAD I didn't know existed has unlocked.
