Software person. Building @railway.com. Prev @deno.land. Creator of Fresh. @tc39.es delegate. Train nerd. he/him π³οΈβπππ»π lcas.dev - π Amsterdam
Just switched over some of my projects to @railway.com and it is so so good. Smoothest DX in the infra space!
+1 it's very good! Not just saying that cause I work there as well, have been using @railway.com for fun since 2021 and for serious work since 2023. my elevator pitch is that It's progressive disclosure for infrastructure
So for those new to @railway.com: deploy basically anything in just a couple of seconds. Think a personal atproto PDS with persistent storage, a @tangled.org knot, or even a vibe coded (or meticulously hand written) site with postgres and a bucket. But really anything fits into a Docker container!
So some of you may know that I am a huge train nerd. So it's only fitting that today I start my new job at @railway.com. Not to run trains (I'm no good at that), but to help build the cloud platform of the future! Choo choo! π π π π π
WHATWG Stage 1! bsky.app/profile/mari...
That was fast π¨π€© @lcas.dev has already submitted a new HTML proposal for Localized time formatting without JavaScript π github.com/whatwg/html/... Couple of previous proposals related to this topic: - github.com/whatwg/html/... - github.com/whatwg/html/...
What's this, a new HTML proposal? Built-in localized time formatting in HTML! github.com/whatwg/html/...
This is a great summary!
Earlier I explained how the European Commission's proposals on rail ticketing are both radical and, in their current form, unworkable Now I have started to work out what Parliament and Council would have to do to make things more workable from here #PassengerPackage jonworth.eu/how-to-make-...
We are working on a detailed summary of what the EU's proposal contains and what that means for passengers. But, here is the short version: The commission has good intentions but their plan falls woefully short. Making rights contingent on how and where you bought your tickets is not good enough.
Update on @nicr.dev's and my lawsuit against NMBS π In an overwhelming victory, the judge ruled today that NMBS illegally denied our reimbursement claim, and must reimburse us in full + cover full procedural costs. The court followed our reasoning completely, and dismissed all points NMBS made. π
I sued three different European rail companies today, in two separate cases. One case is for violations of my rail passenger rights in case of disruption, and the other one for overcharging me on a trip (and then refusing to refund me what they overcharged me). Fun times ahead π
I never thought Iβd say this, but I may have made too many chocolate chip cookies πͺ
Yesterday was my last day at Deno. I'm sad to leave but I'm proud of everything the team and I were able to build. I'm glad I had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented people I've met. I wish them all the best! I'm actively looking for my next challenge, my DMs are open!
John is an absolutely incredible UX design expert. If you are looking for someone who can come up with, implement, and test your UX flows, you should hire him.
Yesterday I updated my bio as I'm no longer with the #1 π¦-themed javascript company. I'm sad to go but excited to see what's next. I've spent the last few years designing exclusively in code, building agent skills, working on command-line tools, and crafting dev docs experiences. Hit me up.
Personal update: I resigned from Deno two weeks ago. Yesterday was my last day at Deno. Working on Deno, Deno Deploy, JSR, and Fresh with my world class colleagues has been an absolute honor. I wish everyone who I have worked with at Deno the absolute best - continue building groundbreaking things!
Is the Bluesky entryway service described in this docs page open source? docs.bsky.app/docs/advance... I can't find the source code :(
PDS Entryway | Bluesky
Bluesky runs many PDSs. Each PDS runs as a completely separate service in the network with its own identity. They federate with the rest of the network in the exact same manner that a non-Bluesky PDS ...

This has been a long time coming. Super proud of the team - we completely rewrote Deno Deploy in the last year. It's better in every single way than the original. Not to toot our own horn, but I think it's the best place to deploy your Deno/Node.js apps (and frameworks!) Try it at deno.com/deploy!
