The LCC Women’s Network, part of @londoncycling.bsky.social, is a group of volunteers and campaigners who are tackling and calling out the barriers to more women cycling in London.
Successful climate action is SO attractive! From 2015 to 2022 China spent $145M to make Tianjin's streets safer, greener, accessible. Evaluations found 100s of 1000s (70% of all trips) of people chose active/public transport. 𝗧𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗶𝗻'𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆: 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆𝘀
In 2015, Tianjin launched the Urban Transport Improvement Project—the largest active mobility investment ever supported by the World Bank. Instead of focusing solely on roads or transit, it sought to create an integrated system where walking, cycling, buses and metro would work seamlessly together.🧵

The same street in Levenshulme, Manchester, one hundred years apart. The private motor vehicle is an invasive species, which gradually crowds out and suffocates the rich social life of our cities. When cars don’t dominate the streets, life flourishes.
