Days 1 & 2 done. Hard miles in 30/40 zones reinforced how insulated drivers are—soundproofed, aircon, music—easy to forget your vehicle’s power. Heard horns aimed at frustration, not danger. Some passed too close, too fast. Tough, but it’s why I’m doing this for Brake. Thank you for sponsoring! 🙏

For the 5th consecutive year child casualties have flat-lined at around 13,000 road casualties of age 16 and under. In what other area of life would the death or injury of 13,000 children be "acceptable"? The government has a Road Safety Strategy that aims to reduce child KSIs by 70%.

A fun finding by Adam Tranter and a @yougov.co.uk poll that we discuss in this episode was that, despite the headlines of angry neighbors and business owners against bike lanes, an overwhelming majority of people were in favor of making it easier and safer for people to cycle.

An interesting detail here is that TfL doesn’t - and can’t - have accurate data on the number of bike bus users, because it’s free & people don’t need to touch in. What a squandered opportunity to provide a proper cycle crossing for East London the #SilvertownTunnel was.

The cycle shuttle bus for the Silvertown Tunnel could carry foot passengers in the future, according to Transport for London. Only between 100-130 journeys are made on each weekday on the buses, which run from 6.30am to 9.30pm each day. greenwichwire.co.uk/2026/07/28/s...

The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea claimed that Albert Bridge has an excellent safety record for cyclists in official papers. I persisted with the FOI process in which they finally admit that they do not have actual written assessment to back up this claim. Don't bullshit a bullshitter.

"Environment Select Committee" the pomposity oozes from their pores. "Albert Bridge has an excellent safety record for cyclists" - that's bait for me to raise an FOI on how they come to that conclusion.
