It was over for Max Miller politically when he said his wife couldn’t have been abused because she offered to make him dinner 6 days later. He may not have known it when he said it, but that was the end. You have to be a sick bastard to come up with that as your defense.

Note that every last scrap of "this is the benefit we're offering you" is completely gone from most of the industry. All they can offer is another outrageously priced, largely pointless purchase. Private equity is the exact opposite of the entire concept of providing you any value for your money.

I got into it with someone today who called the people booing Sophie Cunningham, performative allies. Telling people you support them and not doing any meaningful shit is that. Loudly booing a bigot, plus getting angry on social IS actual support. We need more people doing that!

A lot of folks are focusing on how "later in life" doesn't sync with how they see themselves. We should remember that so many people are worried that "too late" is a real thing. Emphatically, it's not. I've never met an older trans person who regretted transitioning. They only regretted waiting.

I have an urgent minor surgery Friday. After pushing one-ton loads and tossing 70 lb pallets around like I'm a twenty-something Amazon, my body just cashed a reality check. It's all going to be fine. But pushing myself this hard physically wasn't sustainable. I need to get back into my career.

Started at 41. This week marks five years. This was a life path that, from an early age, I was told I was not allowed to take. Pursuing it meant letting go of trying to be acceptable, of trying to win approval, and instead trying to be authentic. Embracing it gave me my life back. It's worth it.

I beg people to understand that trans men are not some secret "gotcha" that exposes the hypocrisy of the anti-trans argument. They are a group being placed *in danger*, the same as trans women and nonconforming cis women. Anti-trans arguments justify violence against ALL gender nonconformity.

When I broke free of abuse this year and integrated radical acceptance, people who've known me for years - but not before the bad times - remarked on how much warmer and chattier I came across and how easygoing I'd become. Part of that process was reframing problems as challenges, not more burdens.

The road to fascism was paved with "Reddit atheist" and "shrill feminist" and "blue hair and pronouns". The vanguard wasn't the rabid reactionaries. It was the "normals", "apoliticals", who tolerate occasional sexist comments but mock the "cringe" of well-meaning and earnest but awkward people.

This is still one of the coolest things my brain has done that I wasn't trying to learn. Predatory monetization tactics are now treated as negative emotional manipulation, meaning they're such an absolute deal breaker that they completely *reset* any value I had once perceived from the experience.

OW was the title that broke my FOMO response. They switched to cash-shop exclusives so aggressively in the OW2 era that my brain recalibrated FOMO to oppositional defiance. I can't have most new content? Then I don't care about *any* of it, including my existing collection and the game itself.

He could have chosen confidence and deeply integrated self-acceptance, and laughed off how misguided people's mental framing of him is now. But he chose to punch his feelings instead of process them, and ended up at "still insecure, but now literally begging for permission to get violent about it."

Making games is a business. But without people who genuinely love making games, there won’t be much of a business left. The industry doesn’t just need better numbers. It needs more passionate people in leadership, more new talent welcomed in, and more belief that games are art worth fighting for.

I've had some people describe it as an abolition from worry. If life has been Too Much and you're entirely too self aware to prevent hyperfixation on problems, the idea that you hold such blatant, obvious, visible value that others will always want to treat you well and meet your needs is appealing.

This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.

"Good-faith people who care a lot about women's sports" do not care even a little about women's sports in literally any other context,and since their "reasonable concerns" could be 100% debunked in a single YouTube short, they are also not in "good faith". They are, at best, dangerously uninformed.

I think 23 is the stopping point for me. Money, community support, accepting office, supportive friends, and distance from unsupportive family all lined up. "I had to share a fifth-place trophy" isn't a systemic structural barrier. It's one more person in the competition who was as good as you. It's an anecdote conflated with a dataset that forms a line in the exact opposite direction from where you claim it leads: underrepresentation, underperformance.

First: it's empirically true. Second: You're falsely assuming equal access to training, coaches, facilities, nutrition, medicine, recovery, scouting pipelines, cultural permission to play, financial incentives, childhood encouragement, and absence of harassment, ridicule, or institutional barriers.

The last time I researched this, I discovered the timeline "sport is open to all; woman wins; sport is immediately closed off to women; women's league is eventually formed years later" is almost universal. Women's leagues were overwhelmingly created *strictly* to protect the egos of men.

Just heard a good idea from @jbf1755.bsky.social : If you read something online that enrages you, ask yourself who out there might want you to be enraged, and look at why they are sharing it now. This goes along with the necessity of checking what you read to make sure it's true.
