Hi, I'm Lena (they/she)! I'm running for Shelby County Commission District 13 in Tennessee. I'm running to transform power into progress, translate ideas into impact, and transfer privilege into shared prosperity. Visit www.lenachipman.com to learn more!
Hi there, District 13 and Shelby County. As a first time candidate, community advocate, mom, wife, and trans advocate, I want to thank everyone who has supported me as a person, and most recently as a candidate for Shelby County Commission. I didn’t run for me. I ran for you.
Tomorrow, on Election Day, if you believe #Memphis is Magnificent? Choose Chipman, for Change.
'Twas the night before voting And all 'cross the land The candidates were wondering How their policies would land The yard signs were placed At the poll sites with care As at 7 tomorrow The voters would be there
TN is literally the worst at funding K-12 education! We can fight back in #Memphis but only if we elect fresh voices with new ideas, not the failed politicians from the school board. If you want kids to have lifelong learning and paths out of poverty, vote Chipman for Change today or on May 5!
I've toured 201 Poplar, and it's horrible. The solution is to jail fewer people, not just to build a huge new jail without solving the underlying problems. If you want to see public safety that works without mass incarceration, vote Lena Chipman for Shelby County Commission District 13.
This is why local zoning regulations are so important -- and why local elections matter! We can put datacenters and private power plants in a Special Use category for heavy industrial and we can increase their property taxes to deter them or at least get reparations, among other things
"In Tennessee, we love data centers. We want to have data centers, but we want to put guardrails around that to protect our ratepayers," said Rep. Ed Butler of Overton County. But of seven bills placing guidelines on data centers, all but one failed, writes @cstephenson.bsky.social.
It's a beautiful day to get out and vote, #Memphis! And if you want someone on your county commission who stands up to ICE and fights Elon Musk, instead of taking his money -- vote Chipman, for a Change!
Y'all, it has been a week. But the sun is shining today, unlike yesterday, and it's a great day to vote in #Memphis! Early voting sites are open 8-4pm today!
#Memphis, it's time to choose. Do you vote for the same old establishment politics that recycles people across offices? Or do you want a fresh voice with a bold, progressive vision to transfer privilege into shared prosperity for everyone? The choice is clear: Lena Chipman, for a change.
I look forward to, when I'm elected to the county commission, coming up with innovative new ways for the mandated contract in Shelby County to actively impede ICE activities. "Gosh, it sure is tough we have to fill out these carbon paper forms on typewriters with three witnesses and a notary..."
The Tennessee House on Monday voted 71-25 in favor of legislation to require every sheriff in the state to enter agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws — or risk losing state funding. @anitawadhwani.bsky.social reports.
When we fight together, WE WIN. Mayor Young tried to run from us last week, but he can't hide forever. Show up tomorrow and USE YOUR VOICE! #sheshed
May 1st is a national day of action and Memphis is throwing down. No Work. No School. No Shopping. Working people keep this country running. On May Day we show our collective power! ✊ Sign the pledge and participate: tn4all.info/maydayTN26 #sheshed
Memphis May Day 2026 Pledge Card

PILOTs and other tax abatements are often misused in Shelby County. @mlk50.com found that PILOTs for affordable housing often result in properties being taken over and units crumbling while absentee landlords collect rent and reduced property taxes.
🚨 Endorsement Alert! 🚨 I'm proud to be endorsed by Memphis for All for County Commission District 13! They recognize my commitment to creating a more equitable future for Memphis and Shelby County -- one where government makes your life better instead of serving the wealthy and connected.
Not all money is good money. A current MSCS board member who's running for the Shelby County Commission (home of #Memphis) has taken campaign contributions from an xAI employee and sponsored the schools taking Musk money for infrastructure. Me? I'm going to get him out of our town instead.
#Memphis and Shelby County have such an amazing arts scene, I can't understand how anyone can't answer this simple question -- or even "what's your favorite restaurant in your district?" (If I had to pick one, I'd go with Fawn.) Support local artists and support candidates who support them!
Surprisingly literally no one who lives in #Memphis. I said in a forum recently that the task force was a net negative across the board, and this is further evidence to support my position. They're not reducing crime -- they're using pretextual traffic stops to disappear immigrants.
According to an @mlk50.com and @propublica.org analysis of nearly four months of daily arrest reports from October through the beginning of February, just over a quarter of the more than 5,200 arrests made by the task force in and around Memphis have been for violent crimes.
Early voting has started in #Memphis and Shelby County! If you want someone who will stand up to Elon Musk instead of taking his money while he poisons our kids, and if you're sick of the establishment picking your candidate instead of your voice mattering -- I'd appreciate your vote.
I am horrified at the death of a 17 year old Millington Central student yesterday at Shelby Farms, when a playful water gun fight at a playground escalated into an actual gun fight.
Hi, I'm Lena Chipman, and I'm running for County Commission District 13 in Shelby County, the home of #Memphis TN! Endorsed by LPAC, ChangeTN, Advocates for Trans Equality, and the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, I'm the progressive problem solver who will Lead Out Loud!
#Memphis, we've got to talk about this. One of the advantages of a functioning, effective transit system is that you can get where you need to go without paying almost $4/gal for gas! That's money out of your paycheck...
Last night I joined the Big We and the Memphis Culture Coalition for State of the Arts 2026! As a big fan of local art and music, I loved getting to know more about what creatives need in #Memphis and Shelby County. If elected to the county commission, I can amplify my support for local artists!
Rain? Pft. We love the rain. If you believe Memphis Is Magnificent and that we need transformative change to move forward -- not just more of the same seat-jumping politicians who help Elon Musk and their rich friends -- I ask for your support and your vote. www.lenachipman.com
I'm proud to be a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate! This distinction shows my commitment to keeping #memphis and Shelby County safe from gun violence when elected. @momsdemandaction.org
I was there too. Walked down Beale where the cops were blocking the streets with their 🚗 and there wasn’t a single incidence of violence during the entire time. Except by the police. Right by FedEx Forum. I was 10-15 feet away from that marshal who got pepper sprayed.
This is the #Memphis Police Department's official statement about why they attacked our No Kings march. I'd tag them here for what I'm going to say in this thread, but like most Memphis and Shelby County agencies, they're only on Facebook and the Nazi Bar, X/Twitter. Very appropriate, that. 🧵
I was there and the march was entirely peaceful. We were jumped by police the second we turned off Beale onto MLK/Linden; they tried to block our returning to the rally park, and then when we went around them, they came up behind us in anti-riot equip and started grabbing safety marshals.
WATCH: “BRUTALITY!” Video of MEMPHIS PD violently escalating & pepper-spraying orange-vested #NoKings protest organizers downtown — with Rep. @justinjpearson.bsky.social @keshaunpearson.bsky.social @jbsmileyjr.bsky.social and others right there to witness it. 🎥 www.instagram.com/reel/DWdR__f...
