Sheffield will only send a physical copy of my transcript to the uni that hired me as an adjunct, so I ordered one last month which DHL swears up and down they delivered in mid-July. I’m panicking a little but the HR team is still calm, cool, collected. (I wish that were me.)

Folks, we have officially made it through the Victorian and modern rubbish into secure archaeology…things are beginning to snowball regarding our medieval interpretations. No one is more relieved than I, because I was struggling with artifact and trench “stories” to follow for our socials and blog.

Extremely hot woke son of my summer landlady came by today while I looked like I crawled out of Satan’s butthole so tell me why does God give me His toughest battles??????

Bitten by many different species of bugs but it wasn’t the usual one day of horror we get once a summer. Also we got 13thC pottery yesterday and 12thC pottery today so we are going in the right direction…

Actually I think Finds Liaison Officers for the Portable Antiquities Scheme who work almost exclusively with metal detectorists should be allowed to carry a gun but that’s just my onion

Loving the dig season so far, haven’t had a single second to work on my syllabus though, even though I’m only missing like three supplementary readings. It should be fine long before it’s due, but I also really wanted to get all the content prepped as well.

Now that I am in British jurisdiction instead of “free speech land” idk if calling people who are wankers in British politics “wankers” is gonna get me in trouble but it appears Andy Burnham took all of five seconds to become an absolute wanker

Made it safely to my accommodation for the month, and dig officially starts tomorrow! Please follow bamburghresearchproject on here AND insta! I’ll be posting every day on here and there,

I’m working on the slideshow and lecture for what I think will be one of my favorite units: we are reading about rising kingdoms in post-Roman Britain in the textbook, but in the primary sources we are going to read “The Ruin” (OE poam about Roman baths), compare it to “Ozymandias” (Shelley),

First two weeks of designing my university course completed: all readings organized, discussion prompts finished, quiz questions sorted, and slideshow with audio track as “lecture” done! I think I’m getting the hang of this…kinda.

The new episode of “Patience” (autistic clerk helps Yorkshire police solve murders) is about a Vikings expert and my dad calls out to me “There’s a big stone, come look!?” Me, running from three rooms away, in a sweat: “A RUNESTONE OR A HOGBACK?!”

The little sloop I mentioned on insta with the Indigenous rights (+ racial justice and climate solutions) banner was forcibly escorted out of the parade by a supergroup of the CG, USN, and NYPD boats. Captain was told the decision was coming from above those orgs.

Went onto the army base near my family home to see the tall ships come into the harbor. I was looking through binoculars and calling out the countries by flag like a damn pirate! 🏴‍☠️ (Pics on Instagram)
