Earlier this month I had the opportunity to work with Elsi, this beautiful red-sailed ship. It looked so tiny in between the massive icebergs of Greenland.
More interesting variant maybe: imagine that the shooter can see the line but the the goalie can't. Goalies have to assume that it's a breakaway and play it that way, but the shooter knows that they're gonna shoot from wherever or further out.

If a scientist tells you something dry with no vividness in it, it's probably true. If they say something grandiose like "my subject is, like, the true /essence/ of what it means to be human / the universe / life itself" they are surely wrong.

I've been thinking about learning vs mastery (as a two-step process for learning, mostly for teaching reasons but also just generally) and it's odd that there doesn't seem to be any common phrases for the feeling of the onset of mastery, but there are scads for the same feeling for learning.

Macklin Celebrini (5x18.8m extension with San Jose) is already performing like a #1 forward at age 19 (he turned 20 just after the Sharks season ended). Great conversion of offence into goals, generates central shots, defensively strong, draws penalties. An exceptional young player.
