I'll close out Beat Em Upril with my first encounter with the genre: Avengers/Hissatsu Buraiken (Capcom) Like a lot of 80s kids, I was a big fan of martial arts media so finding this game was a revelation. I played this recently on Capcom Arcade Stadium Vol. 2 and it’s not good :/ #retrogaming

Drawing of the two playable characters from the Capcom game Avengers (aka Hissatsu Buraiken). The man in the foreground wearing a green top is kicking. The man behind him in the yellow top is taking on a fighting stance.

Beat Em Upril No. 13 Crime Fighters (Konami) Not highly-regarded but a personal favorite. Loved how the game encouraged you to fight dirty. Kick dudes in the nuts, kick them on the ground, fire a gun, fire a gun at them on the ground - whatever’s necessary to get the riff-raff off the streets.

Fan art drawing of a player from the arcade game Crime Fighters about to kick a fallen opponent lying in the foreground.

Drawing characters from Beat 'Em Up games for what I'm calling BEAT 'EM UPril. 3/?? - Roxy from Final Fight and Billy (or is it Sid?), her replacement for the US SNES version.

Doing a lil personal drawing challenge that I'm gonna call BEAT 'EM UPRIL - drawing characters from various Beat 'Em Up games. First up is Kung Fu / Spartan X. Since it's based on Jackie Chan's Wheels On Meals, I tried to draw Jackie here as 'Thomas'
