Is there anywhere you can talk about House of the Dragon that isn't reddit? I enjoy the show & trying to talk about it on reddit means wading through people being like "why are they mean to this character I like??!!" Everything is fandom bullshit and it's impossible to talk about tv like an adult.
And, yes, even though they're just over 20 years apart, #TokyoGorePolice and #RoboCop have WAY more in common than you might initially think. Keep that in mind. #MutantFam #TheLastDriveIn #SavageSummer - SMF
"THE POLICE FORCE OF TOKYO HAS BEEN PRIVATIZED" "TOKYO POLICE CORPORATION" oh fuck yeah get their asses #TheLastDriveIn #MutantFam 🎥👻🎬
If you haven't seen Yoshihiro Nishimura's 2008 gore-fueled stunner TOKYO GORE POLICE, you're in for a treat. It's an insane bloody blast. Found this one at @scarecrowvideo.bsky.social ages ago. It's a hoot. Japanese splatter punk rules. #TheLastDriveIn #SavageSummer #MutantFam #TokyoGorePolice - SMF
Joining for second movie, though I do legitimately love I Spit on Your Grave. Felissa Rose! God I wish the next movie could be Sleepaway Camp. #MutantFam #TheLastDriveIn

Oklahoma restricts the disposal of toxic oil field waste within a half-mile of a public water well. Regulators have allowed companies to do so anyway. Now, to protect its drinking water, the city of Enid has to ask those same regulators for help. with @readfrontier.bsky.social
To Protect Its Drinking Water, This City Has to Appeal to the Oil Regulators That Put It at Risk

Watch The Long, Hot Summer & Paul Newman's supernaturally blue eyes are all part of the high camp of the most beautiful man you've ever seen in your life as a surly manual worker clashing with scenary devouring Orson Welles & Joanne Woodward's baby bangs & tightly controlled sexuality. 10/10
Poking my head up to say I'm not anywhere much but the new Madonna album is very good (I love a very specific Madonna - Bedtime stories, Ray of Light, CoaDF) & made me cry, to my great surprise. Fireworks did too. Been reading Walt Whitman & crying. Just a lot of summer crying.
She doesn’t have the motherfucking time but did it anyway fuck yeah. Support this, subscribe to this, support indie publishing with action. 🖤☠️
I do have the motherfucking time (not really, but I'm making time for it), and I'm doing it myself on my own platform (since Reactor ignored my pitch 🙃). I would have loved to be paid for the work, but at this point it's public service so I'm doing it for free 👇
I have a new microfiction about grief & beauty & destruction in Bending Genres. read my story “Dishes” + all of Issue 51 🍽️ 🎨 grateful to @rgvaughan.bsky.social & the @bendinggenres.bsky.social editors ♡ bendinggenres.com/dishes/
Camp Terror: 13 Tales for Summer Survival Thank you @firstnamebob.bsky.social for creating the #CampTerror graphics! Each book is another campfire dare and a chance to prove you can outlast whatever’s lurking past the treeline. [Titles in Alt Text too]
The Searchers (1956) is beautiful. John Wayne can be effective despite his limitations, like other limited & talented actors - Tom Cruise, Katherine Hepburn, etc. He plays rigid, brave, but also fearful men who bring about their own isolation, even if in the long run they "win" #thecriterionchannel
Just finished A LIGHT MOST HATEFUL by @haileypiperfights.bsky.social. Wow. Where do I begin? A simple premise about a girl stuck in a dead-end town, her love for her best friend unrequited, transformed into an incredible story about identity, agency, grief, hope, and malevolent cosmic wonders.
Gray Barker—the 1st person to write about the Men in Black & Mothman—changed your world, even if you’ve never heard of him. A vital ufologist, he was also a hoaxer, & lived a closeted gay life in postwar West Virginia. It’s what makes his poetry so weird & fascinating. My review of a new collection:

A serial killer and sweltering heat make for a lethal cocktail in the director’s underrated 1999 film.

Imagine this: You’re home for the evening, winding down. There’s a knock at the door. Who’s there? It’s Anthony Weiner. And he wants your vote.
Horror filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun shifts from stunning critics with under-the-radar releases to one of the splashiest films of Cannes with Camp Miasma, led by Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder.
