I have lived long enough to see Arabs and Palestinians go from being the cartoonish bad guys in a James Cameron movie to being the sympathetic but antagonistic Other in a Steven Spielberg movie to embodying the soul of what it means to support equality in America This has been decades in the making

It's actually insane how recklessly the US fired so much of its most sophisticated ordnance against Iran. Like, world historically insane.
There's a lot of discourse right now about how we're running out of weapons. People blame poor procurement choices, low stockpiles, corruption etc. But what we are *actually* talking about is "how could we use so many weapons to so little effect" which is a completely different question
Even if you ignore the context and much of the substance of this tweet, the language feels a bit desperate, no?
She knows she’s losing so she said let’s just go mask off.
As I wrote before, to the anti-Trump Americans: I do not care about your apologies. To quote the late great Ayatollah Khomeini, "Marg Bar Amerika".
Trump on Monday signed orders to impose a 50 percent tariff on a wide range of Canadian imports. I believe I can speak for most Americans when I apologize to our Canadian friends. We’re sorry we elected this clown. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/o-canada-7b8
I'm Canadian, so I can't tell you what to do about America's problems, nor should I be expected to. But finding a way to organize within your community is a good start. There are many opportunities. I don't expect the US left to storm the Capitol (though that would be cool).
I'm very supportive of the anti-Trump US left, but I'm tired of Americans posting "Trump doesn't represent us", "we aren't all like this" or attempting to apologize on America's behalf. I'm not here to salve your conscience. If you disagree with Trump's policies, shut up and do something about it.

This is a bill intended to be put to debate in the American upper house. You can't pretend this doesn't represent you, or it's unfair to blame you for what your elected representatives are doing. At least have the self-respect to own it.
Another "this must hit pretty hard if you're stupid" moment in American intellectual history
I remember reading "Clash of Civilisations" in 2006 as a first-year IR student and thinking to myself "That map looks stupid".
Folks, we’re doing the reverse Pol Pot bigger and better than we’ve ever seen it before. We’re gonna make D.C. a state, the only state actually. 350 million patriots will all be living in one big beautiful complex of pods connected only by a series of the best tubes, maybe ever.
I'm the furthest thing from a Canadian nationalist, but comments like this fill me with white-hot rage. We do not owe courtesy to the US, and your average Canadian is in a *far* more stridently anti-US mood than PM Carney. And there's a very good reason for that.
To be fair, some of this is self-inflicted. Way too many Canadians on here are talking the same nationalist shit us Americans were spouting after 9/11, and frankly Carney isn't helping anything, either.
Just because AncestryDNA or 23andMe gives you precise numbers with respect to your ancestry, does not mean that are accurate.
There's only so many times you can repeat a gotcha question or a talking point like "does Israel have a right to exist?" before public figures like Mamdani or El-Sayed figure out an effective way to answer it.
I'm a self-hating BlueSkyer so I can't deny these allegations. But the idea that Telegraph columnists like Stephen Pollard have the moral high ground here is laughable. Vicious, sneering odium is their stock in trade.
The progressive version of Twitter offers a world of vicious, sneering odium that only those who see themselves as kinder humans dish out 🔗 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/07/03/is-there-anything-more-pathetic-than-a-bluesky-user/?WT.mc_id=tmgoff_li_pathetic-than-a-bluesky-user/
Woke 1 went "too far" in that it over-relied on language policing and making an example out of random nobodies. It was largely a liberal individualist tendency for the social media age. The moralizing and scolding was the sign of a rudderless, powerless left that could not make structural change.
I'm probably not going to read this because it doesn't interest me. But the post, article title and image are deliberately provocative to stir controversy and get attention. It's silly for the author to cry "Oh no, why are people dunking on me when they clearly didn't even read the piece? :'( ".
Israel will be the new Sparta! No, Israel will be the new North Korea! No no, Israel will be the new IRAN!
Israeli former defense minister stating the obvious truth that Israel is completely reliant on the US to maintain its military capabilities and then advocating for the batshit stupid idea of copying the Iranian missile and drone force strategy as a way to deter Iran.
Hardly the most important issue today, but I still don't get why people defend her when she tweets like this regularly
americans always love to telling people their" Independence from The Crown" but they do not know of, "Independence from The Jews"
The US violated international law in attacking Iran. To uphold that law, it needs to lose this war. I'm sorry for Americans for whom this causes uncomfortable feelings. We're the Russians in Ukraine here.
Israeli media seems to be surprisingly clear-eyed about their strategic loss
This is going to continue on repeat for the rest of Trump's term, isn't it? Brandonization Theory vindicated.
Mark got everything he wanted with the Iran War, but it's not enough. Now he wants to drone strike liberal journalist Peter Beinart.
Turns out it was a Twitter post by the @landpalestine account, which is all clickbait slop day after day. I'm embarrassed that someone posted this in a discord I'm part of and that we all believed it at first.
The first I heard of the protests was an Instagram post saying half a million Albanians were protesting the sale of Albanian land to Israel. When I actually looked into it, my reaction was "wait, that's not true at all". Incredibly loose editorializing, to say the least...
People sometimes use the three arrows and the Antifa flags interchangeably as anti-fascist symbols. Maybe it's a pedantic and superficial observation, but these symbols aren't really compatible. Antifaschistiche Aktion was communist. The Iron Front (three arrows) was anti-communist.
