europe’s position is different from america’s in that they export a lot of cars. so even if they curtail chinese ev imports, they take a hit. they also import a lot of oil, so chinese evs exert two opposite effects on their trade. www.cnbc.com/amp/2026/09/...

we have the normal consequences of loose money. inflation higher than target, good job growth, high investment, rising long term interest rates. theres no special ai or tariff thing. M2 growth has accelerated linearly since july 2023. embrace boring explanations www.nytimes.com/live/2026/09...

agreed. there are many papers about imaginary systems, like tradeable mobility credits, drone congestion, perimeter control, and so on. Few scholars seem to care about this real thing italy has had for a long time. Maybe *because* it already exists

Many people are saying. Italy's ZTLs are one of the most underrated, least researched (and misunderstood) traffic management tools in the current urbanist debate.

With jet drones, theres no point in pipelines to bypass hormuz. everything near iran can be destroyed easily. I think Gulf equilibrium is just off the books tribute to iran. i doubt gulf states can deter w/ their own drones, bc iran doesnt have much to lose. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/03/w...

since fleet avs have fixed costs ( HD maps, depots), they are similar to “natural monopolies” like streetcars and power. i expect to see subsidies for semi-rural areas to “get connected.” similar to the Dial a ride and “flex route” transit we have now

Robotaxis create serious problems in big, dense cities, but they’d be a godsend in small towns and rural areas—huge swaths of America that the AV industry is ignoring. My latest, in Bloomberg (gift link) 🧵

many americans make their living off what you might call “ arrangements.” the result of combinations of safety rules, licenses etc. I expect that these will proliferate with ai. creating more arrangements will be a good way to get votes as professions compete with computers.

great plot from minneapolis fed. Post is about tariffs, but what strikes me is the services inflation is about 4% post covid and 2% pre. hard to see how this would go down without rate hikes.
