Neighborhood cat has once again left a half-eaten mouse (rat?) on our side walkway up to our six-unit building. So I am busily not looking in that direction & trying to get away without cleaning it up. (I did clean it up last time, but only out of guilt from doing this EXACT thing the time before.)

The war in Iran seems fully back on, and afaics, this happened this time, bc Iran completely wanted it to. They want the US and now others to bomb it some more, and I am not sure why. They could have had no bombs and the Straits in their control, but they prefer the bombs.

My doggo is whining and complaining because she wants to sit next to me on the couch, but my pills are there, I'm doing my weekly pills. She's tried to get into the box of pills, but that won't work. She's so sad.

So many songs about this. From my listening today, Walk off the Earth's My Stupid Heart (such a catchy tune) and Olivia Rodrigo's bad idea right? Both of them are about the difficulty of leaving a shitty jerk who looks good and might be good in bed. Anyone want to suggest others?

it's not a whole article that young women are dating deadbeat little jerkoffs. that's not a trend. that's just being in your twenties

In a Bret Stephens column making fun of Vance's 3 hours on Joe Rogan's podcast, the subject of the 10 commandments in schools comes , Stephens says, "neither man appeared to be aware that the commandments are not originally Christian." WTF? Does he just mean that they are in the Old Testament.

What boomers actually want and need is homes that are one story, and don't look like a shit ranch. And everything has to be on that floor, no going down to the basement for the laundry. In Portland, OR, a lot of one story buildings got built up to two, and built down for a third.

“Other factors keep boomers from downsizing. Many want to avoid paying large capital-gains taxes on the sale of a long-held home that has appreciated a lot in value. Others are finding the housing stock of smaller homes is minimal, and relatively expensive.” www.wsj.com/economy/hous...

Side effect of a medicine I'm on I am having godawful stomach cramps right now, sitting alone at home. Haven't felt this in years and years. I know this should end in the next 6 hours or so. My poor dog isn't getting a walk today. I just need to send my groan of pain out into the void.

I drugged my dog and my former dog, Ruby, bc I am going to have to be gone this afternoon (housesitting for my ex). I guess I gave Ruby, too much. Usually she is super manic when outside, will bark at you forever to throw the toy again, again. I threw a ball for her and she just watched it go.

I have two lovely Kinto thermoses, that I just washed in the dishwasher, but without the two top pieces. Now I can't find the top pieces, making them functionless tubes. Very annoying. Why wouldn't I just put those above the dishwasher???

Well here's something everyone should know that I learned from my adventure where my head hit the sidewalk. If you hit your head and you are over 64, you should get a CAT scan, bc you are more likely to get brain bleeds. (If you are 64, don't worry, this could not possibly happen to you.)

As a result of the 4th, my pup is going for the world's record without peeing or pooping. It's too dangerous out there. She's not going out, no walks. Also won't pee on the towel I put down for her, too grown up now.

Taking my dog out for her last little walk before bed, and she was rushing back and I missed my step on a big crack in the sidewalk fell on my face, broke my glasses and hope I don’t have a concussion. I probably don't.

This would be a bigger scandal if it hadn't been WIDELY whispered that Alito wants to retire, and a simple fact that if he wants to retire he has to do it damn soon. No one is going to fire Nina Totenberg, ffs. If for no other reason, she's damn scary!

Megan Greenwell@greenwell.bsky.social · last mo.

wait lol this is so much worse than I expected the explanation to be? they published the story based on two words, neither of which was Alito’s name??? that’s the most obviously fireable offense possible if it’s any other journalist alive????? www.npr.org/sections/npr...

Totenberg was reporting on the final day of the Supreme Court session on Tuesday. As she was leaving the court, Chief Justice John Roberts was announcing upcoming retirements. Totenberg wondered why everyone else wasn't leaving and asked someone outside the court. According to her interview that same day on All Things Considered, Totenberg asked a bystander what was going on, and the person replied
"retirement announcements." But Totenberg heard the reply in the singular, "announcement,
"and assumed it was the notice that Alito was retiring.

So, re: Mamdani (or anyone)—you don't get to decide who is & who is not a people. I've heard from Jewish nationalists my entire adult life that Palestinians aren't a people, they're Arabs & could just as well live in any Arab state. Yeah, no. You don't get to decide who is & who is not a people.
