I feel seen, I thought I was having a midlife crisis but it’s just August 1st tomorrow
If you have an academic in your life, please be gentle with them this weekend because they're probably freaking the fuck out.

FIGHT FOR GOOD. Neurospicy librarian; Olympic hopeful but BOYCOTT LA ‘28!!! Lazy, but bad at it. Tell me why you’re DMing me if you expect a response. Content: obscure primary sources, #ALA. Mocking my horse, #GarbageMare.

📚 I had to create a prop about ALA for a video and realized I am insane
Uuuuugh Dolores Umbridge said a thing and now I gotta worry about being harassed in the bathroom and locker room again. The psychological damage I will inflict on anyone who decides breast cancer survivors are insufficiently cisgendered… I used to study war crimes, you don’t want this smoke.
Judge: This book is unprofessional. I found numerous typos on these pages. This book was clearly not edited. Reader, those were the pages that talk about the main character correcting typos! You'd think if you paid for a judge to judge a book in a competition, they'd actually READ IT.
If my boss asked me to investigate the Blood Geyser Train where everyone on it turns into a geyser of blood, I would simply not go. Why does this not occur to people in horror movies?
📚 Being an academic librarian means getting excited about new multimedia cement tension content. Oooh it has quizzes Also this is not the first time I’ve gotten excited about cement research

There are so many Stephen Miller insults in this whole thread but I want this one to get a little sunlight
My man looks like a Make-a-Wish kid whose wish was "war crimes"
The duality of 🐴: #GarbageMare is invulnerable to heat, cold, and a number of toxic plants. Also, today she injured her hind legs because she was trotting and then farted and forgot how her legs worked and fell.
Me at a work meeting on diversity: I’ve noticed that this is one if the few workplaces where I’ve never felt like I should mask. Everyone else: I can’t imagine you’ve masked a day in your life. What would you even BE like?!
📚 Last thing the world of library science needs is for me and my colleague to produce a morning zoo crew style reference video YOU’VE REACHED THE EGGHEAD AND MICHAEL REFERENCE SHOW! CHECK YOUR U-U-U-USERNAME FOR E-RESOURCES ACCESS! *random clips of Booknotes dialogue*
📚 GotDAMN my tech services predecessor built WMS reports like he was creating ART. These are beautiful to work with.
I keep thinking “It’s too hot to do anything with #GarbageMare” and I forget that she was born in nature’s forgotten furnace. Spent the first three months of her life in 110° weather. She gets so much energy between 90° and 100° and I just sit here melting.
#ALAAC26 @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social Between hidden fees, self-parking at $40/day with no in & out, it cost me an extra $700 out of pocket just to stay at the Marriott. Would have been more if I paid for internet. Please let’s advocate for no surprise fees at conference hotels. WE are the customer!
I did not have “meth addicts save the climate” on my bingo card but here we are… www.vice.com/en/article/t...

📚 What’s it like working in a library? Well, I had to order a velociraptor head today for work-related purposes…
Fun fact: I only got elected to leadership at @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social so I could be here at Wrigley again. #ALAAC26

40 people on Zoom, 30 people in the room for AIRUS - we would have had more space for people, but a publisher felt that their stacks of books needed the room more than librarians did. 😡 #ALAAC26
Apologies to IU Luddy for not attending the alumni reception. IU turns out WINNERS and I was busy WINNING. #ALAAC26
Met Katharine from @titanbooks.bsky.social last night. She lives right next to one of my bucket list places: Mount Desert Island, Maine, home of the Hotchkiss child sniper unit of 1814. #ALAAC26
This to me was one of the funnier series of images. They didn’t go get barrels of hydrogen peroxide from some industrial chemical supply. They went to a store and got little bottles of it and they all had to sit there opening the bottles and pouring them one by one.
Usually, the constant background awareness of domestic US news here in a country that is not the US is a bit wearying, but the reflecting pool is an exception. Give me all the news about the reflecting pool. It is hilarious.
