Hasten to add: I'm familiar with arguments from some branches of feminism about sex work commodifying bodies, etc. And the fact that legalization reduces sex crimes is a fairly nasty piece of information about some men. But as a policy, it's hard to argue with such a result.

What's the argument against legalizing victimless crimes? I was reading Alvin Roth's book and (tw) he says in natural experiments the rate of sexual assault declines a LOT when sex work gets legalized. Seems the argument for drug legalization is pretty strong too? Would love to hear disagreement.

I think the right move, which I don't see enough of, is developing a synthetic philosophy of how to co-exist with all this, as humans have had to try do in past industrial revolutions. If I could convince a think tank to hire a cartoonist, I'd be doing it tomorrow instead of between projects.

There's lots of stuff LLMs can't do, but if you want to disbelieve all the recent math, you have to believe a bunch of Fields Medalists with long track records are just straightforwardly lying about the thing they care most about. This'll lend itself to hot takes, but let's discuss: Do you think of fascism as ideologically thin or thick? Meaning, is it largely an aesthetic (us vs. them, regenerative violence, national rebirth, glorious leader) as opposed to a set of coherent policy goals e.g. trade, healthcare, taxes etc?
