This is a favorite bit of A Soft Place to Land for me. It's been so fun trying to make this magical place come to life, despite the main character's tendency to be a skeptic.

I'm determined to hit the query trenches this month, so from now on no more terrible boys or political intrigue - all that exists is a deer, a coyote, and a terrifyingly static afterlife that Brigid never wanted for herself.
