Yesterday was rough. Could not see phone screen at all, today is much better. Also the eye was "scratchy", but not painful. This eye is much more bloodshot than the first one, i have attached a pic from yesterday but labelled it so don't look if you are squeamish!
Today's the day! I'll have two fixed eyes by this evening! Very happy! Just started fasting, got the eye drops yesterday, will have a shower shortly, book taxi to surgery, check neighbour still OK to collect me. Went to gym yesterday as now I have to "not do anything strenuous" for a few days.
#surgery Some of you may remember my 2nd eye surgery got cancelled at the last minute when the surgeon's father unexoectedly & sadly passed away. Yesterday I was rescheduled for mid-October. Today I was offered & grabbed a cancellation slot!! 🎉🎉 Surgery is now on Monday next week! 💃💃
Heads up #Australia re #pathology billing. When the whole kidney stone saga started, I went to my local Urgent Care Clinic. They took a urine sample for testing. I then got an invoice via SMS. Yeah, nuh, something's not right I thought. Then forgot about it given the 2 trips to ED etc. 🧵 1

Well, this ain't over, sadly. Had (pre-booked) telehealth with hospital yesterday, they aren't of the opinion the kidney stone has escaped sooooo..... I will be going in for a procedure to remove it. Don't know when yet, they will notify me, but I am Cat 1, which means soon-ish. #ItNeverEnds
🧵 2 Got results sent to GP, she emailed me with confidence it is essentially a done deal now. Effectively took over 3 weeks, assuming it has actually found its way out. Very annoyed I didn't catch it - wanted to see the stupid thing! Appt with specialist clinic Sept 4th. DON'T WANT ANOTHER 1!
#Sinus #surgery update 2nd post-op this morning. All good! Another follow-up in March and ENT surgeon is keeping my rheumatologist in the loop as my inflammatory #arthritis can make sinusitis worst so they both need to keep an eye on it. Flush 1 p/d for life now, + Nasonex spray. #ChronicIllness
So last night the temporarily cemented-back-in-tooth/crown fell out again. Scored a cacellation slot at 2:45 today, nearly fell over! Not sure they'll try cementing it back in temporarily again, but will see. A bit over the whole teeth complications on top of all the other #ChronicIllness stuff.

#ChronicIllness Yet another blood test. 6 weeks after my last rheumatologist aopt. Given I had to drop one med due my neutrophils, need to check situation. Not feeling great, I have to say, so hopefully the tests will show something. May be able to go back on lower dose of withheld med? No idea yet
Not exactly a major illness issue, I admit, but let's face it, painting one's nails with A) Arthritic fingers that don't want to bend the right way And B) One good eye and one eye not yet operated on Is not the easiest thing I've ever done!
Hamstring stretches done. Pelvic tilts done. Now for a walk.
The kidney stone saga contines. 🙄 BUT should be/may be over as I write. Had my 3rd CT scan yesterday to check progress. Darn thing was FINALLY about to enter the bladder at 4 pm. At least I've not had another pain attack since Aug 19, so fingers crossed. First "event" was Aug 4th. 🧵 1
#ChronicIllness #MyAgedCare #NDIS #InflammatoryDiseases Just a heads up if you are a My Aged Care or NDIS client with an inflammatory chronic illness you MAY qualify to have your dietary protein supplements covered. If you are unaware, you may need extra protein.
Effects of inflammation and/or inactivity on the need for dietary protein - PubMed
In inflammation and/or inactivity a relatively high protein intake may be required to promote synthesis of specific proteins, prevent depletion of selected amino acids (e.g., glutamine or arginine), modulate immune functions, counteract insulin resistance and redox unbalance. Thus, an optimal protei …

#ChronicIllness talk: get your random symptoms checked out by a doctor even if you assume it’s part of another condition. I’ve been dealing w/a very disruptive symptom I thought was part of one diagnosis; it can be, but it turns out nope! caused by something else and there’s an easy-ish treatment.

To show how little we learn about #perimenopause - #boardreview question, 49 yo woman, never been pregnant, has irregular bleeding (extended duration, 3 months apart), and the correct answer is...she probably has #cancer? needs an #endometrial biopsy? Huh? (only 29% got this right)

I spent Tuesday quite wary - after all, both weeks before (hospital trip each time) the pain attacks had started Tuesday evening. This Tuesday passed without incident! Yay, maybe I'd passed the damn stone? No. Last night all hell broke loose again. This time I managed to manage it at home. 🧵 1
I am home. I never actually got the CT results. I wanred to know if movement had in fact happened during the week. There is no guarantee I will not have another episode BUT we are reasonably sure the stone has navigated the difficult junction today, so I should be OK. I need sleep! Zonked!

great piece @cgatist.bsky.social thanks for writing, i have been thinking for a while that an epi primer on disease causation, individual and population health determinants etc in this space is much needed

3km!! A couple of pics from my walk. I love the bushland. While not the same as NZ, it lets me escape from the city for a while. #ChronicIllness #InvisibleIllness
#ChronicIllness I've showered, washed my hair, dressed, been to the supermarhet & pharmacy, shouted myself a coffe and an apple twist (very nice it was too) and now about to do first walk of the day. I like my new sinuses!! 😂
