This looks a must read for those interested in triple differences (DDD) designs. It shows that the standard way many estimate DDD is wrong. It shows why and gives you tools that work with covariates and staggered adoption. Bonus: free R package. arxiv.org/abs/2505.09942

Just read a nice paper by Imai, King, & Stuart on "Misunderstandings between experimentalists and observationalists about causal inference": gking.harvard.edu/files/matchs.... They do a simple decomposition of the estimation error into sample selection and treatment imbalance.>
