PSA. If you type in Hebrew w/the default Hebrew keyboard layout, you know that the quotation marks look different and don’t limit a search to an exact phrase. After yrs of frustration, I learned that if you switch keyboard input to “Hebrew-PC” you get back the right quotation marks. You’re welcome.

Thanks boating supply company for making an outdoor tote bag with daisy chain loops and clips on one side for easy anchoring to a vertical surface, eg the back of a monkey bar seat. Additional cargo capacity unlocked (namely, to drop in a backpack) when kid is in the seat. #carryshitolympics
Striking how much better air quality is on the Puget Sound side of Seattle vs the Lake Washington side rn
New anti-e-scooter rhetoric just dropped: they get in the way of combine harvesters
An 11-year-old boy has died after crashing his electric scooter into a combine harvester in central Poland. Despite CPR and an air ambulance response, he could not be saved. Police are investigating the circumstances of the fatal crash.
Signs I am an elder millennial: my research happy place is with a laptop but in a library in which books are physical things that can be taken from shelves and lined up on a carrel.
I could have driven 25 min each way to drop kid off at camp and been back in an hr. Instead I biked 40 min there, then biked 10 min to the train, then read a novel for 30 min on train then biked 10 min home. Yes nearly two hours (can’t make time for this every day), but nearly all of it enjoyable.
Boat storage gear: good for solving unusual bike storage problems, like finding a waterproof storage concept to attach to the back of a monkey bar seat to have additional rear cargo capacity while kid is in the seat.
#bike people. I want something to cinch wide leg pants that is very easy to put on and which also works with wide legged cropped pants (so it cannot work only at ankle). What you got for me?
Seattle Seafair (and every festival that thinks flying warplanes overhead is all in good fun): damn you for making me explain to a student from Gaza in my office why she was made to wake up from a nap in a panic thinking she was back in Gaza.
Architects who don’t consider the need for future maintenance (and cities that hire them) should be cursed. “Some of the building’s air-handling units were essentially built into the structure. They’re aging…but they won’t fit through any doorways so replacing them will mean tearing down a wall.”
Seattle’s infrastructure needs billions in repair. The library is just the start
The city estimates it needs about $6 billion for maintenance and new construction. Seattle City Light needs more. But one of the most dramatic examples is a landmark.

What “automotive item” did I order from Amazon? Turns out the item thus classified was a bike handlebar bag. @thewaroncars.bsky.social
Do not, I repeat do not, attempt to print R-L language words in English language text unless you or someone you know can diligently check proofs to make sure this (backwards printing) doesn’t happen.
Taught my (only) child to play solitaire today. I hope this proves to be the lifesaver that I think it can be.
Expel and demolish: Israel’s (and not only extremist settlers’) strategy in the West Bank
Every university has apparently hired the same management consultants who have told them to slash staff. It doesn’t matter if they have the money to do otherwise. It’s austerity for all, severing of decades long relationships and institutional knowledge for uncertain benefit.

I bike everywhere. Except when I’m travelling and don’t have access to a bike, during which times, wow, I really don’t walk much at home. SO much more walking both with transit (ofc) and with driving (bc the walk to/from parking is frequently lengthy, including/especially in big box parking lots.)
