On the fundamental principle of trans liberation:

As your CEC rep, I guarantee that trans liberation
will remain a cornerstone of Your Party as decided by
the overwhelming decision at the founding conference
to enshrine this in our founding documents.

There are some who argue, disingenuously, that tran rights
and liberation are somehow separate or even contrary to the
rights and liberation of others. This is simply false. The
liberationof trans people is essential because it also means the
liberation of all oppressed peoples.

You cannot build a socialist movement without committing to
liberation and that’s why I’m proud to be a member of the Trans
Liberation Group and to have received their endorsement in this
election.

Liberation for one is liberation for all.

We are committed to proposing this motion at the first CEC meeting that will commit the central party to releasing the funds & membership data to the devolved nations:

Motion to approve the release of data to the devolved parties and commitment to central party infrastructure facilitating correspondence on behalf of the regional steering groups:

With this motion, the CEC agrees as its first point of action to begin the process of formal transfer of membership data to the devolved parties in Scotland and Wales. This is essential for the formation of these devolved parties in time for the upcoming local and devolved national elections. This motion will also make available the funds necessary for the Welsh interim steering group, alongside the elected Welsh CEC member, to prepare and hold the Welsh founding conference.

This motion being agreed to shall:

Begin the formal and legal transfer of membership data to the devolved national parties.

Establish, immediately, a system for devolved national parties and regional branches to send out email correspondence to their members via the central party. This is to be the task of the newly elected Comms Officer.

Request the newly elected Party Treasurer to calculate and make available funds within the next 7 working days for Your Party Cymru to hold their founding conference, with the intention of holding the conference by 6th April 2026.

On dual membership:

The party voted at the founding conference in Liverpool for us to allow dual memberships. The interim leadership has used what they think is a loophole of the CEC not being formed yet, to bar candidates in this election who hold membership of non-electoral parties. This is absolutely against both the wording and intent of the motion that was overwhelmingly supported at conference.

As your CEC member, I will make sure that the decision taken at conference, to allow dual membership, is respected - regardless of factional biases. I will also push for members to decide further details on dual membership at the next conference, so that these decisions are not solely in the hands of the CEC.

As long as these organisations share our principles of socialism, trans liberation and anti-austerity then there is no conflict of interest with Your Party membership.

On the need for fully accessible branches and organising:

As your CEC rep, I will ensure that all
branches are fully funded to be able to ensure
that there is full accessibility for all members
and that everyone can participate.

We cannot become a mass movement without
bringing along every one of us.

As someone with a disability, I know that challenges and
obstacles prevent us from engaging with politics and, unfortunately, organising spaces

I will write a guidance document with other disabled members,
around inclusion and accessibility for branches and the wider
Your Party Cymru processes.

On the founding of Your Party
Cymru, conference
and the branches:

As your CEC rep, I will push on Day One to start the
process for the branches and interim steering committee
to be given the data and finances to both formalise branches
and organise the Welsh founding conference.

This process needs to be done properly to protect members’
data but that doesn’t mean that the central Your Party
machinery can’t send out emails to the members on our behalf.

As such, I will organise an All-Wales online meeting for Welsh
members to be able to start building the connections with each other
and organise locally themselves.

We need local members to be able to meet with each other now in order
to properly discuss what motions they would like to submit to the
founding conference.

I will also push for branches to have the opportunity to elect representatives to
the interim Welsh steering committee to give much needed oversight to the
founding process and ensure that there is total transparency going forward.

INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES FOR SCOTLAND AND WALES AGREE TO WORK TOGETHER ON CEC

Statement from Lizzie Bailey and Niall Christie, standing for the Welsh and Scottish CEC seats, respectively:

Following the event ‘YOUR PARTY SCOTLAND WALES: AN AFTERTHOUGHT?’ on Tuesday 3/2/26, we had a discussion with fellow Welsh and Scottish members who are worried at the lack of support from central Your Party and the dismissal of concerns of Your Party members in the devolved nations.

Going forwards, some of our joint priorities include:
- Push for data and finances to be released.
- Support creation of official branches.
- An additional CEC seat for Wales and Scotland.
- Proportionate nomination thresholds.
- Ensure the Welsh and Scottish conferences are decision making bodies with appropriate resources.
- Build strong relationships across Wales and Scotland.

Here are my answers to the questions from this week's hustings (4/4):

Q: Cyrmu'n Codi - Cymru Rising proposes an ecosocialist programatic aim as 'production for the needs of people, planet, peace, and not profit' thus directly challenging the power of wealth and capital for these ends. To what extent do you agree with such ecosocialist aims?

A: I completely agree with ecosocialism, and in my opinion eco-socialism should just be default for socialism. Because capitalism is the root cause of the climate crisis and without socialism our environment as we know it, will collapse.

We need a just transition, particularly within former coal mining communities, that can lead the way in the renewable sector. Investment, retraining, community owned sustainable power sources could breathe new life into our communities that were abandoned by Thatcher and every subsequent government. For those who haven't seen the film recently made with Beth Winter “Coal beneath our feet and wind above our heads”, I'd highly recommend it as it is a great example of what we can do.

Ecosocialism is the embodiment of the NUMs famous motto, the past we inherit, the future we build. Your Party must ensure a just transition, that simultaneously rebuilds our communities, and secures the future of our planet for all generations to come

Q: Are you committeed to trans liberation and self-id?

A: Absolutely, as a socialist I stand for the liberation of all peoples and see very clearly, how trans people are being used by the far right as the most recent scapegoat that blames anyone but the billionaires for the problems our society faces. It's not a coincidence that the far right lobby groups that overturned Roe V Wade in the US are also lobbying to overturn LGBT+ rights, specifically trans rights, both in the US and here in the UK.

We must be clear in our policies that we support trans liberation. Furthermore, we must support the right to self ID, as the Scottish parliament did in 2022 before the Westminster machine overruled their democratic decision to support it.

Here are my answers to the questions from this week's hustings (3/4):

What can you bring to Your Party that is different from other political parties such as Labour?

I bring a new generation of politics to Your Party, as someone who has grown up under the neoliberal pro-capital parties of the Tory's and New Labour I've felt the sharpest edge of cuts to education, healthcare and my future pension. As a result, I have the most at stake to make this project succeed.

I am a proud socialist, I understand the ways in which capitalism has failed ordinary people and why the working classes of the UK feel left behind by mainstream politics. I bring integrity, as I'm accountable to the members who vote for me, rather than politicians or influential people within YP or any previous connections from Labour.

I'm not afraid of speaking truth to power, an example of this right now is the letter to central YP regarding these CEC elections, it shows what I bring to the CEC, someone who has the best interests of members at heart and will speak up when something isn't right.

a) How and when will you make our Wales conference happen? b) By what date do you expect to get all/most of the branches in Wales formally constituted?

If elected to the CEC I will raise these as a critical issue that disproportionately affects Welsh members. I will call for the Welsh finances and data to be released, alongside the appropriate support needed to hold a founding conference, and the outreach for 20% of membership required to establish official branches.
I've mentioned a few times about my role in my branch in Cardiff, because I believe that members need to take the lead in setting up our own branches. Yes, the issue with data and finances makes this far more difficult than it needs to be, and central YP must resolve it asap, but it can be done.
In my branch meetings we collect our own data lists, with a simple pen and paper for members to write their email address to be notified for meetings.

Here are my answers to the questions from this week's hustings (2/4):

Q: In Cymru we have increasingly a divergent political dynamic from the UK. Do you support independence and republicanism and if so, how do you think it could relate to ecosocialism?
A: Similar to the previous question, I fully support the right for Welsh self determination and autonomy. However, either as an independent state, or as a devolved nation, the Senedd needs to fulfil its role to the fullest of its ability. Welsh independence needs to be explicitly liberationist and socialist, and not just Labourism with Welsh characteristics.

The Senedd already has a number of devolved powers that it does not use effectively. One example was during COVID, the relevant Senedd members deferred decisions to Westminster even though health policy is a devolved issue, so we must be prepared to lead as a nation and make definitive socialist policies, if we are to be successful as a nation.

Q: What have you done to assist in building your local branch, or local group?

A: My local group is in Cardiff and I've taken a pro-active role in establishing and growing our proto branch to where it is today. I was recently elected as co-chair to continue the work of facilitating meetings and helping to engage our members.
As a co-chair I also encourage people to take part in conversations that are often spoken over such as women and people of colour, to ensure our branch actively builds fair participation, rather than hope and wait for it to happen passively.
I've had many conversations to try and understand what other members are concerned about regarding your party, as well as initiate ways we can actively combat those as a branch. We've recently set up a number of working groups, and one of these is a community organising working group that I'd like to see develop further, I'll continue to volunteer my time and skills to help build an active and thriving branch that is truly member led and takes action for and with our communities.

Here are my answers to the questions from this week's hustings (1/4):

Do you support an independent YP Cymru, or a semi autonomous YP in Cymru with the YP UK as the sovereign body having the final say?

I fully support the right for Welsh members to have self determination in regards to full independence or to remain part of YP UK.

Wales needs to have full access to the finances and membership data, to be able to hold a founding conference to be able to establish exactly what our relationship with central YP looks like.

Due to the current situation with central YP, Wales is being left behind and it is not good enough. Comradely relations have to go both ways, if the Welsh members want a fully autonomous and independent YP, then central YP must respect and support that. If they want to remain part of central YP, we must have the same ability to hold a founding conference and begin developing our own policies for Wales.

My vision is that YP in Wales will be fully resourced so that we can determine what our relationship will look like with YP central, and I would expect a minimum standard of equitable resources, a sovereign body, and collaboration with all international socialist movements.

Have you any experience of setting up a member led organisation and what did you learn from it?

Although I have been involved in other member-led organizations, like the Palestine movement and LGBT+ groups, I've learnt the most from helping build my local YP branch in Cardiff.

Before and after being elected as co-chair, I've learnt how to engage members in conversations and encourage them to take action. All political movements gain their power from ordinary people, unions are the best example of this, one person on strike is a nuisance to employers, one thousand people on strike gets a pay rise.

The issues in YP are fixable, but only if we get members engaged and active within the structure to demand a fix. Like unions, we need our members to start organising to empower one another and begin to understand the power in our hands.

This morning, I sent the open letter published last week with the signatures of Welsh members about the issues regarding how the Welsh CEC election is being conducted with little information or understanding of the Welsh membership.
