"It underlines what your actual values are. So, if people are getting backlash for speaking out against the genocide, and they choose not to speak out, clearly they’re prioritising their personal position over the Palestinian people."

The activist references the Labour Party, which is "clearly taking a position which they obviously know is wrong" but politically serves their interests in British arms and diplomatic ties.

How can you trust someone who says they stand up for human rights, but they don’t stand up for the Palestinians?"

“My name is Lizzie and I am committed to fighting for socialist change, both within Your Party and beyond it. I've been involved in a variety of political groups and have taken on roles such as LGBT+ officer, Women's officer and co-chair of UNISON's national young members group.

I've also been involved in local community organising including Palestinian liberation groups, anti-fascist groups, and educational workshops. I've been learning about politics and social injustice since I was a child, as I wanted to understand why hard working people still faced significant financial issues. I went on to study politics at university for my undergraduate degree and completed a masters in sociology in 2020.

I believe our society has more than enough wealth for us all to live long, healthy and fulfilling lives, but in our current political system all this wealth has been concentrated to a small number of individuals and this needs to change. Against Sections: For Democratic Liberation TLG believes in empowering groups to organise democratically, develop their own consciousness and elevate their membership. No individual can speak for us!

Text: This causes many issues.

It creates another layer of bureaucracy for minority peoples to navigate to get their voice heard. In many parties, these sections are factionally aligned to the leadership to maintain their access and privileges, which makes them ineffective at speaking up or providing criticism.

In reserved seats, token anointed individuals are treated as a way of signing off on decisions affecting groups, without having to consult them.

Text: There is a better way of doing politics, a way that centres democracy and member led liberation.

The aim is not to have a single trans person signing off on decisions; it is to build strong, democratic structures that encourage people to take the lead in their own political development and their liberation. We can build strong, diverse organisers, we can debate strategy, refine our policy and be an exemplar of democracy.

Text: We do not need to attach ourselves to specific leaders - allies or not.

We instead show everyone that the power lies with the members and anyone can support us.

Through our empowerment and building each other up within our interrelated struggles, we then become impossible to sideline. Our influence becomes permanent and reliant on no one but ourselves.

Solidarity with the Filton 24! Solidarity with Prisoners for Palestine!

Text: The Filton 24 are a group of 24 activists charged with taking direct action against an Elbit Systems factory.

All 24 are being held in prison without trial, with some expecting to face almost two years in prison before their trial. The British government is using counter-terrorism powers to punish people for resisting a genocide.

We are now entering the fourth week of a hunger strike by six prisoners.

Text: They are on hunger strike to try and win five demands:

•⁠ ⁠End all censorship of prisoners
•⁠ ⁠Immediate bail
•⁠ ⁠The right to a fair trial
•⁠ ⁠Deproscribe Palestine Action
•⁠ ⁠Shut Elbit down

It is the biggest collective hunger strike in the prisons of the British state since the 1981 Irish republicans’ hunger strike in the north of Ireland.

Text: In addition, last week the first trial of the Filton 24 started and is due to last 10 weeks.

The Trans Liberation Group would like to express our unconditional solidarity with all of the political prisoners arrested for resisting the genocide in Palestine.

Trans lives do not exist in a vacuum‼️ Here is our explanation of what Trans Liberation is.

Text: What is Trans Liberation? (An explainer...).

Text: While our community faces unique oppression because of the fact we are trans, we also suffer disproportionally from the oppressions of other marginalised communities that we belong to, as well as those felt by the working class as a whole.

Trans Liberation recognises that these struggles are interconnected, and can only be solved through working class solidarity that seeks to address the oppression faced by all marginalised communities, like ours, alongside the wider struggle for a Socialist society.

Text: Trans lives do not exist in a vacuum!

Text: Healthcare is becoming harder to access.

Whether through the government's cruel ban on Puberty Blockers for trans kids, through the targeted deterioration of trans healthcare on the NHS, or the dismantling of the NHS healthcare generally, trans people without financial means to access private healthcare are particularly harmed.

We remember our murdered siblings not only as victims of an unjust world, but as part of a movement of resistance. We hope that our trans and non-binary siblings can take time today to remember and to grieve. Tomorrow, we turn those feelings into determination.

Body: We recognise the 360 known trans and non-binary people who have lost their lives prematurely this year. The true number of those lost is likely to be higher due to underreporting and misrepresentation of trans identity in the media and police reports.

Honouring their memory is not just about mourning but also demanding justice. Systemic failures in healthcare, policing, housing and employment frequently leave trans people vulnerable.

Body: 78% of those killed in transphobic hate crimes were trans women of colour. We must be explicitly clear that the intersections of racism, misogyny and transphobia put trans women of colour in the most danger. Trans liberation is impossible without an uncompromising struggle against racism, misogyny, ableism and all other forms of oppression.
