Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests. Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade. Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."
The last sentence of my review of Eddie Glaude's recent work: "Seeing the nation as an entity capable of loving, as opposed to a nation-state that oscillates between democracy and antidemocracy, renders one far less capable of committing oneself to the realities of long-term political struggle."

Hive mind ask: Looking for political science/social science articles on how to successfully change minds, as well as articles on political science related public interventions.
Most political science still treats authoritarianism and racial politics as separate subjects. That's a problem. The 2026 JHU Racial Politics Summer Institute is dedicated entirely to the study of race and authoritarianism. Grad students and faculty — apply by April 11. forms.gle/RYALxK89d5dz...

Fighting Fascism's inaugural episode is up! We talked with @astra.bsky.social and @mark-bray.bsky.social about why it shouldn’t actually be that hard to build a majoritarian coalition around the idea that like 25 creepy billionaires shouldn’t own literally everything on the planet. Check it out!
I don't see it being unanimous. I'm interested in seeing who supports ending it and what arguments they muster.
It's good that Trump showed up at the Supreme Court today. The effect is to stamp his face all over this vile effort to end the constitutional birthright of equality and restore hierarchy by blood. Let him be associated with this project forever. New piece from me: newrepublic.com/article/2084...
Black Studies in a Dark Conjuncture. In conversation with Eric Jackson of Black Yield Institute on March 25 at the main branch of the Enoch Pratt Library.
In an overlooked decision this week, the Supreme Court ruled that the post office can refuse to deliver your mail, which is KIND OF SIGNIFICANT if you choose to mail your ballot. To do this work, the anti-democracy wing turned to their favorite “black friend,” Clarence Thomas.
Clarence Thomas Just Struck Another Blow to Black Power
In his majority ruling in a sleeper case about mail delivery, Thomas opened the door to a new way for Republicans to suppress the Black vote.

you know it's bad when george will brings up race and the civil rights movement to make a case against the administration. "minneapolis is today's birmingham."
So as someone who “actually *DID* conduct COIN at the battalion level, I have to speak on this because there’s so much bullshit here. Beyond all this being written by AI, there’s so much wrong here that I refuse to believe this guy is legit. Let’s make a thread.
I didn't understand how helpful the literature on inter-personal abuse (sexual assault, domestic assault, parental abuse) was in understanding meso- and macro-level violence until 2024. Shout out to Nikol Alexander Floyd.
I cannot emphasize enough: if you grew up with an abusive dad, you recognize the escalation pattern the federal government is using you say no to dad on something that even he thinks is relatively minor. he hurts you. you object to that, he hurts you more. you ask mom for help, he hurts you both
1/4. The U.S. continues to be a place where people’s life experiences and outcomes differ dramatically by social positioning. How does that affect the way people make meaning of what is happening around them? Those questions guided this new paper. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
