I've been thinking about my star-spangled swimsuit from that era, and my friend announcing she had Bicentennial eyes after an afternoon in the pool. I was ten. I may stay alive for the tricentennial simply out of spite, or stubborn hope.

My whine for today: my favorite ancient looking-out-the-window app (Flyover Country) seems to be broken. On the plus side, I can go to Macrostrat for geological info. Here, have a fault line.
Screens don't know the first thing about blue. *Or glitter, or interference pigments, or graphite, or gold leaf. *Cyan either, but I had to throw in that Kelly Hogan reference.

Bad design of vehicles plus bad design of intersections = deadly. I drive a relatively small giant SUV. I try to drive it with the knowledge that at some point I'm gonna get out and be one of the people crossing the road, and I don't want to get run over either.

Erika Hall@erikahall.bsky.social · 2mo agoUrban parking lots are my Mars. I think we should establish human habitation on the surface of parking lots. Preferably in the form of a cute apartment building with a variety of 1-4 BD units, maybe with an inner courtyard garden situation.

Trying a paper for the first time: can I make books from it? can I paint on it? can I print on it? does it come in different colors? evidently, yes to all! (although the laid side has visible fibers that might felt up a bit with typical sketchbook handling, we shall see)
Putting aside for a sec the insultingly low pay and repetitive stress injuries: Why is anyone training robots to interact with 20th century machines designed for humans to use them? A stove that prepares food sounds great, but is not going to look like a person standing in front of a 30x30x36 box

This morning's odd but reassuring health dream: a 15mm port in my chest irised open, and through it I could see my heart, major blood vessels, and other nearby insides like a live anatomical model. A bright, busy queen triggerfish was nibbling around in there, keeping things tidy.
