The comparison I heard was data centers using the same amount of water as golf courses, and for that I was all, my brother in Christ, let me tell you what I think we should do with golf courses
Andrew Parker@andrewparker.bsky.social · 4mo agoBut didn't you hear? Chatbots that steal actual writers' work only use the same amount of water as huge tracts of farmland. And since obviously we can't assess which one provides more to human wellbeing we can't be against data centers unless we're against farms too.

there are too many games. Literally opened diablo 4 to have a look and then was like.. why? i didn’t play the other 150 games i have on steam.

An all-time great video game moment. I'll be thinking about this for years. It's right up there with surviving Hell in Spelunky, one-shotting O&S in Dark Souls, and beating @danryckert.com's disgusting Mario Maker creations.

man it is really the philip k dick times when some giant company can just do whatever and all we can do is tell another giant company to sue :/ (fwiw I agree but ffs)
