Analyst, Aussie, car nerd, dad. I like engineering, electronica, occasional harsh language. Heavy Industry and complex system Asset Management. Regular smart ass. If you can take my comment two ways, assume the nice way first.
I love these now slightly old Falcons because everyone I know has a story of how big their grandparent's Falcon was when they were kids. Some little rug rat has been in here, admiring the expanse, and dropping a chip in-between the extensive sheep skin covered seats. #weirdcarbs
This is up there with my PelEton concept from 2008(!), where riders mount their own regen bike and pedal around SF. It was inspired by the South Park episode of hybrid drivers smelling their own farts. In the PelEton you can smell the farts of the rider in front of you. 😁 #weirdcarbs
i feel like it actually translates super well into a light pickup/ute with a few styling tweaks bed is higher than what would be desired usually but that's just cause of the battery tray also the spot where the reversing light usually is reminded me of a place for a tow hitch lmao #weirdcarbs
I know @smithandsniff.bsky.social you said someone shouldn't drive from Scotland to London in one day, but that's pretty much what we did the equivalent of: Yandina to Hebel. 730kms/450 miles. The next day we found where all the spare Beetle bodies have gone: Lightning Ridge. You should drop in...
Australian made? Yes, the Perentti, named after a big lizard, was an Australian kit car C3 look alike stuck on top of a Holden ute (similar to El Camino) chassis. It looked cool but that was the extent of its magic. One of less than 50. #weirdcarbs
Behold: '86 VL Commodore! For the car history nerds: when Australias favorite car was being updated, the old I6 (202ci) which had been around for a million years, didn't take kindly to unleaded fuel. Instead of designing their own modern motor, they reached out to Nissan for the RB30 #weirdcarbs
A captive classic in a suburban front yard. Too far gone? How long until someone decides it's too precious to die? #weirdcarbs #carsky
To highlight this single point, as the sole characteristic that drives my admiration, would not be accurate. HOWEVER, how many cars these days (not trucks) actually have a full sized spare?! #carsky
Clearing out an old phone and found this beauty. AP5 Valiant by Chrysler. Built in Australia in the early 60s. They also had a Ute version called the Wayfarer. I'm sure I've got a pic of one of those around somewhere #weirdcarbs
Aww, cutie. Apologies for potato quality. This was shot from the hip 🔫 as it was driving past on the other side of the road, between parked cars. #weirdcarbs
I was doing the opposite of Baked Alaska in a Jeep Wrangler, today. Not sure what you'd call it, but I had a pair of ripe rambutans and nipples that could cut glass. 🥵 @sniffpetrol.com @smithandsniff.bsky.social
