I have done this ever since I can vote, and I will continue doing this at EVERY election.
I stand with women. I stand with Black People. I stand with LGBTQ+ People. I stand with Jewish People. I stand with everyone who isn't a straight white Christian male that's invested in patriarchy and white supremacy. So I will NEVER vote Republican. I will ALWAYS vote for Democrats.
Equality is essential in democracy, no ifs, no buts, no conditions.
I often say that the fight for democracy is the fight of our generation. But let me be clear, if you aren’t fighting for Black voting rights right now then you aren’t really fighting for democracy.

Intellectual diversity does not mean we have to entertain bad faith arguments. Some things should not have both sides. The Supreme Court should just repost the decision of the U.S. v. Wong Ark Kim, and uphold the birthright citizenship that’s enshrined in the constitution.
The fact that the assault on birthright citizenship has gotten this far, despite the plain text of the constitution, is astonishing. It also reveals some flawed assumptions about intellectual diversity, which sometimes involves resuscitating a dead and discredited idea b/c powerful people want to.
Birthright citizenship is enshrined in the constitution. No ifs, no buts, it’s settled and as clear as day, period.
Today is the 128th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship in U.S. v. Wong Ark Kim.
Bravo, Illinois! Can’t wait to celebrate when history is made with two women of color as senators from one state. 💙

People need to understand the Herculean efforts required for minority democratic representatives to push through this bill, which will literally save lives. 💙 Both sides are not the same. Our job is to vote straight blue at every election for the foreseeable future.

I went to my first ICE watch yesterday and was surprised by how kind and community-centered it felt. PIRC (@pirc_oregon) runs free ICE watch training in Portland. Once trained, you’ll get text alerts so you can show up when ICE is sighted. Sometimes just showing up is enough.
