#SouthCarolina will have a new governor next year. The GOP nominee, and favorite, is Alan Wilson. Meanwhile, the Democrats have nominated Jermaine Johnson. Democrats last won this office in 1998. #election2026

Donavan McKinney wins the Democratic primary for Michigan's 13th congressional district, @nbcnews.com projects. He defeats incumbent Rep. Shri Thanedar.
Noticing that a lot of outfits still have not called the Michigan Senate primary. NBC, however, did.
Overnight, Republican Rep Chuck Edwards of NC says on social media he will not seek reelection: "After much prayer and reflection, I’ve decided to withdraw from my re-election campaign. I will complete my current term. Serving Western North Carolina has been the honor of my life."
One of Congressman Chuck Edwards’ fellow North Carolina Republicans thinks the outcome of a U.S. House ethics investigation will make it hard for him to win reelection in November. ncnewsline.com/2026/08/04/e... #ncpol
Approaching 1am in the East. El-Sayed still up about 33K votes.
We're past midnight in the East. El-Sayed still leads in Michigan. Not a callable margin yet, but we are at 63% of the vote in.
El-Sayed's lead has grown back to around 30K votes. Still a lot left to count if the estimates are correct.
Get in your jammies, grab a snack, then come back. It may be a long night in Michigan.
Definitely not a blowout win for El-Sayed now. Stevens leads big in Wayne County.
Not a lot of vote in so far, but Rep. Shri Thanedar is down in his Dem primary in MI-13, 62-38%. It's a D+22 seat, so this is in essence the election.
Stevens is neck-and-neck with Abdul El-Sayed in Oakland and Macomb Counties. She needed to run away with these places to even be competitive with AES.
civicAPI can now project that the Kansas Constitutional Amendment for election of Supreme Court judges has been defeated. - ☑️ 🔴 No (No) - 121,710 (70.7%) - 🟢 Yes (Yes) - 50,463 (29.3%)
Not looking too great for the constitutional amendment on electing justices in Kansas, either. No is at 71% with about a quarter of the vote in.
El-Sayed just had a big jump in Michigan. Washtenaw County is giving him a big lead (which is not a surprise - Ann Arbor, college town).
Looks like Amendments 4 and 5 in Missouri are going down in flames.
FYI nothing in Michigan is going to get called until the Central Time polls on the UP close at 9 Eastern
NEWS — South Dakota U.S. Senate Democratic nominee Julian Beaudion has ended his campaign, clearing the way for a one-on-one race between independent Brian Bengs and Republican Sen. Mike Rounds.
Bert Mizusawa will be the GOP Senate nominee in Virginia. Fun fact: I don't think I've seen a single campaign sign or sticker for him. Not a single one. To that end, Safe Democratic.
Decision Desk HQ projects Elaine Luria wins the VA US House 2 Democratic Primary #DecisionMade: 7:17 PM EDT
Turnout in Virginia today was quite low. I think once 8pm hits, we'll move on to bigger and better.
About half an hour until the first poll closings of the evening. This should be an interesting night.
Five states have primaries today on one of the busier election days in a while. Virginia's polls will close first at 7pm Eastern, while Washington, which mainly votes by mail, will see theirs close at 11pm Eastern (8pm Pacific). A few states span multiple time zones. #election2026
#Delaware hasn't had a GOP senator since Bill Roth, which was a long time ago. Incumbent Democrat Chris Coons is running for re-election in this small blue state, but he won't know his Republican opponent until September. #election2026
Voting in the Virginia primary today. Polling station was completely dead. Quietest I've ever seen, but you'd also barely know there were primaries happening here. Both Dem and GOP ballots had exactly one race each.
#NewJersey will probably have at least one competitive House race this year. The 9th District might not be it. Republicans came surprisingly close to flipping the seat in 2024, but if 2026 is indeed a bluer environment, it's tough to see this one going red. #election2026
There's the Burnham bounce we were expecting - the question is if it will hold

We owe you all some Senate, House, and governor prediction updates soon. Shifted 13 race ratings in the past few days on our internal board - all 13 towards Dems. Mostly House races, a few Senate races, and a gov race. Coming soon (not today, don't wait up).
