A screen grab of the ROSES 2025 Table 2 of AOs and due dates, with 8 NOIs and Step 1 deadline marked as late, and 12 final submission/step 2's marked as less than 60 days until deadline.

There are lots of BIG emotions during this week of the annual LPSC meeting. Some folks are there and wondering if it will be their last time. Some are not there due to government regulations. Some are not there due to the dangerous actions of the Texas government. #LPSC2025 #PlanetaryScience

Today is the first day of the annual* Lunar and Planetary Science Conference, the biggest planetary science meeting in the world. And we're hearing that NASA's Office of Technology, Policy and Strategy and Office of the Chief Scientist have been shut down. (1/n)

The US risks diminishing its hard-won advantages when it undermines its investment in national institutions and strips them of their people and resources, writes Janet Vertesi. As the moonshot teaches us, building up is much harder than tearing down. www.techpolicy.press/invigorating...

Invigorating the American Space Sector Requires Working With NASA, Not Against It | TechPolicy.Press

When programs are cut to the bone, America loses much more than it gains, writes Janet Vertesi.

Some folx have only realized the extent of this crisis now that their own science is at stake. I'm glad these colleagues have mobilized, but I doubt they realize the key to ending this crisis *forever* is to center our most vulnerable members. 🧵 #standupforscience2025 #academicsky #sciencesky 🧪🔭😷👩‍🦽⚛️🏳️‍🌈

Given how many individual careers in American science have been delayed, ruined, or just made much harder than they should be due to insecure misogynist twerps, it would somehow make sense for the entire enterprise of American science to face the same at the hands of an insecure misogynist twerp.

NEW: Pregnancy became far more dangerous in Texas after the state banned abortion, according to ProPublica’s first-of-its-kind analysis, which found the sepsis rate for women hospitalized as they miscarried in the 2nd trimester shot up by more than 50%. https://propub.li/43487Tj

Texas Banned Abortion. Then Sepsis Rates Soared.

ProPublica’s first-of-its-kind analysis is the most detailed look yet into a rise in life-threatening complications for women experiencing pregnancy loss under Texas’ abortion ban.

This is a letter I did not want to write. There is a WWII-era saying: “If there’s a Nazi at the table and ten other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with eleven Nazis.” If you voted for #Trump, you are a #Nazi. brandy-schillace.medium.com/the-letter-b...

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

The Stonewall Inn and The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative are outraged and appalled by the recent removal of the word 'transgender' from the Stonewall National Monument page on the National Park Service website. This blatant act of erasure not only distorts the truth of our history, but it also dishonors the immense contributions of transgender individuals - especially transgender women of color - who were at the forefront of the Stonewall Riots and the broader fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

“It feels like a betrayal by NASA....It’s inefficient, it’s wasteful, and it’s also just messed up.” This is how scientists inside and outside the agency are feelings about the cuts to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Words by me: 🧪

NASA embraced diversity. Trump’s DEI purge is hitting space scientists hard

Some researchers at NASA and outside it feel betrayed by the changes at the agency, which was known for promoting inclusion in science.

Seeing reports that the traitors and spies have infiltrated NASA HQ… Send your favorite, second-favorite, and least-favorite (but not maga) NASA HQ employees love and hugs today.

Some higher ed organizations who are loudly circling the wagons against federal funding cuts were oddly silent or circumspect about the earlier attacks on CRT and DEI. I wish there was a better understanding that these attacks are coming because we failed to repel those.

ICYMI: I talked to federal employees across eight agencies about the internal chaos they're experiencing because of Trump/Musk and how they feel going forward in their jobs. A clear theme? They are scared -- and also pissed and digging in for a fight. "Fuck that." www.huffpost.com/entry/federa...

“Ironically for the Trumpies, bringing us back to the office will make us stronger morale-wise,” said one EPA employee as Trump vowed to purge civil servants.
