Nursing home resident, 104, asked my aunt “Who’s the chap?” She bloody meant me!!! Time to grow my hair perhaps
One of the last old ladies living on the quay has died, leaving a waterside plot & slipway 4 adult kids/stepkids who don’t get on.
Well, invitation for a flu jab in October has arrived Where is the year going?
Tea had - now back up the ladder to sand & then paint the wall where conservatory roof thingies rest
That’s the filler put in (including wood filler around the door frame conservatory floor guy took off back in April). Time for a cup of tea before I get the sandpaper out later
I regularly think back to @okwonga.bsky.social's posts which (to paraphrase) highlighted one of Germany's biggest political challenges being an older middle-class which is well off, comfortable as a result, and in turn bored; so they ended up essentially radicalising themselves at dinner parties.
A writer goes in search of her most vicious online troll and finds a middle-class 74-year-old woman who has made more than 120,000 trolling comments on the Daily Mail alone, but sure, it's teenagers who need their online experiences surveilled and censored. Archive link. archive.ph/pPrha

It doesn’t get easier to visit mum in her nursing home. Four Poop Pepe’s mum was determined not end up in a home (no matter how good). She refused treatment for pneumonia & nutrition/hydration & died
Very much encouraging aunt to go to London to see her old friends there. Her health is so much improved after a horrendous year, she’s 80 & her friends are all elderly Carpe the diem!
“We need to undo people’s view of dependency as a source of shame. This requires a culture shift…people are worthy beyond their productivity, and that interdependence is a fundamental of existence rather than a personal failing.” (My abridgement)
What if older people refuse help outside the family? This is the taboo that could wreck care reform | Emily Kenway
Many fear losing their independence if they agree to care workers looking after them. Any social care review must take this on board, says Emily Kenway, a social policy doctoral researcher

FACT: In 14 years of Conservative Govt. they added just 500 extra prison places to the system. 14 years wasted & another example of their gross negligence. Don't be fooled by Tory spokespersons, or their news media trying to blame the Govt., which most of them do. Labour are now catching the flak.
Better get some eclipse glasses - any safe recommendations?
Damn earworm How Are Things In Glocca Morra Jaysus, the humanity! 😬
‘One highways manager told the High Court she had been placed on medication after becoming “fearful of being followed home, tracked and exposed on social media”. Highways staff now wear unbranded PPE, work in unbranded vehicles, wear face coverings to hide their identity, and do not travel alone’
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
Really thought continuity was going to say “How do you make a good strumpet?” Answer: Ask Lilian! #TheArchers
