Retailer since 1996, owner of 10 x Spirit of Comics Retailing nominated @AcmeComics in Greensboro, NC [est 1983] Non-spoiler new comics reviews on Tuesdays!

That's twenty five comics read, minimum 22 pages each but some where oversized. If I could apply that to novels I could do a lot, but I expend my entire reading battery on Tuesdays. In about six hours it's time to connect people with the awesome things I read personally. See some of you soon!

M.A.S.K. 3 is another one of those issues people will hear about soon and will then want to be a part of Energon Universe comics to see what in the world is going on there! Truly exciting and creative material! Re-read the 2026 Energon Special because the scope of things just got a lot...bigger!

The Ivan Reis black & white sketch art for the Ghost Machine Official Handbook 5 spotlight on Hyde Street is really creepy. Especially in this terrible lighting I'm in. I fyou read Hyde Street this is a must-have that'll make you want to re-read the issues you have & look forward to future ones.

The Accessories had me in the first four pages. It set the tone of horror with a dash of humor. Igor doubts the promises made by Dr Frankenstein & takes matters into his own hand leading to an unexpected encounter with a man with another master called Dracula! Definitely add this to preorders!

Omega Book is interesting. An obsessed scientist perishes leaving equipment to his estranged son who is a priest. The device is capable of seeing the mechanics & nature of the universe which his father wrote down. Others knew it for years & want the book while reality moves closer to ceasing to be.

They're onto something with Fort Psycho. Specially trained operatives are blamed for a disaster facing ruthless terrorists & survivors are confined to their former island headquarters. Not a bad deal overall, but something is terribly wrong there. If you appreciate GI Joe & The Prisoner try this!

Not only does the Fantastic Four 65 Years of Covers showcase every cover a variety of creators associated with the series from Roger Stern to Mike Allred to Walt Simonson to Mark Bagley to Jonathan Hickman to Dan Slott comment on their personal favorite covers. Well worth picking up!

Hey, folks. There's a @gofundme.com set up for artist Andy Fish, who is going through a very tough fight with two forms of cancer. He and his wife, cartoonist Veronica Fish (my Blackwood series cohorts) could use some help during this very tough time. I'm donating, hope you can. tinyurl.com/4wa86a6c

Oof. I was following, I invested, then the last page totally ejected me. I haven't experienced that kind of roller coaster on a first issue in a long while. The line between clever and too pleased with oneself is very fine, nearly invisible. Unfortunately this choice was not clever in my opinion.

After his time with Carnage, Eddie Brock is sitting Symbiote-less in pre-trial limbo & help isn't coming due to his years of Venomizing. But with the Queen in Black attack on NYC he knows he can help in some way, if he can just get out. Definitely not one to miss with the future of Venom in mind.

Thinking about soundtracks that really stuck with me like Spider-man Brand New Day, I remember Ghost World left an impression. Also Snatch and Garden State. The Mask way back when. I'm sure there's others. I also miss songs that told the story of the movie & make no sense if you haven't seen it.

Something else I appreciated about Spider-man Brand New Day was the soundtrack. I hadn't heard TV on the Radio in forever now a ton of new people did. I looked up a few songs and added them. Oh Yeah by Steve Lacy especially.

Wow 15 years! A great read for the Fall or anytime really if you want a horror story in a setting that isn’t often used. I think this’ll be a new one to a lot of people right now. (I didn’t know Attila Futaki was gone)

SEVERED, a historical horror book I did for @imagecomics.com with buddy Scott Tuft and the late great Attila Futaki, is FIFTEEN years old today! About a cannibalistic killer who rides the rails in the 1910s and a boy who sets off to find his father around the same time. Proud of this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by WM & how it worked. So much of comics Simon Williams, the good parts and "c'mon man" parts, were in there. And I especially loved his home life and family. I hope to see him again somewhere at least. And Moon Knight. And She-Hulk. And Jack Russell. And Star Fox. And...

This is a huge bummer as Wonder Man S1 was terrific. Innovative, funny, smart, strange in the best way. variety.com/2026/tv/news...

Perfectly captures everything I ever loved about the first and second volumes of the What If...? series but with the added benefit of contemporary storytelling techniques and JMD's powerful personal vision for Peter Parker and his world. And @yildiraycinar.bsky.social 's art is 🔥🔥🔥

If you've read Kraven's Last Hunt, you want What If Spider-man/ Kraven Had Survived His Last Hunt. @jmdematteis.bsky.social is back to write it & @yildiraycinar.bsky.social does his best Mike Zeck homage. Buy with confidence. As with the best What Ifs, if you never read the original, you'll want to

Real things used to happen in Annuals & Superman 2026 Annual is huge. Superman uses the King Omega powers to fix the DCU's future but he must repair Darkseid's damage to the 31st Century if he can. Awesome guest stars & surprises, ties into Action 1100 nicely. This is a cannot miss. Major set up!

Detective Comics is a rare Batman & Lobo team up story. There's an intergalactic bounty on the Dark Knight that Lobo intends to collect, but Batman convinces him to take him to the source to find out what's really going on leading to an annual appropriate surprise in this really neat story.

Bild

Justice League Knight Vision works as an issue of Justice League Unlimited but can be read on its own. Luthor is part of the JL Amnesty program & teams up with Batman against a dangerous but seldom seen villain. I can hear Conroy & Brown's voices. This definitely sets up the next DC All In thing.

Bild

The Patron has a 90s Vertigo vibe and that is a compliment. A mysterious individual approaches up & coming painters with promises of monetary success. And hat success is achieved after their untimely & unlikely deaths. Has someone caught on to whatever this is & the tables are about to turn?

I was truly surprised by the volume of preorders for Horror of Godzilla. This is a prequel to the current Kai Sei Era Godzilla line which includes Escape the Dead Zone, but preorders exceeded those. This is a mature readers origin for that Godzilla & it does live up to the series name. Check it out!

Queen in Black Hela is fascinating common ground of the two Al Ewings. The one who writes Venom & the one who writes Thor. Very different voices & tones, now in the same place. This shows how Queen in Black is possible & should be treated as a Mortal Thor issue. Major Thor series revelations here!
