LRP, imagine just writing a story that you wanted to write, and you get a bunch of people now pissed off at you for "being cowardly", "puritanical", and "boring" because some idiot decided to use your book as a soapbox for their weird fiction virtue signal list. I'd crash out ngl.
If I wrote a novel where characters had healthy relationships, I would absolutely be pissed off if my work was described this way. Not every one is actively writing Goofus and Gallant, they are writing characters and stories, and they go where they go.
Reading a fucked up book cannot make you evil, but becoming convinced that anyone who reads a fucked up book is somehow tainted, less trustworthy or dangerous will make you vulnerable to doing evil shit VERY quickly.
Sin that must be eternally punished is a culturally Christian idea that you can and should reject. If someone admits wrongdoing and changes their behavior, that's the desired outcome. You don't continue to punish because you then signal there's no point to contrition at all, you're damned either way
