The ”Creative Team Talk” ahead of ”The Mad King” play was really interesting! They talked about what it’s like to adapt something for theatre as compared to tv, conversations with GRRM, Shakespearean influences, and more. I took a bunch of notes, will make a longer thread tomorrow!

Just finished reading this. Goddamn what a book. I’m crying, and I don’t cry that often when reading. Obviously the plot, the politics, the worldbuilding and all that is amazing. All that will stay with me. But the characters… that’s what’s breaking my heart now (at midnight) as I close the book.

I can’t believe I haven’t read ”Babel” by R.F Kuang until now! I’m only 40 pages or so in, but I can already tell that this is going to be one of the best books I’ve read in a while.

I’m reading ”Babel” by RF Kuang, and I can’t help but note how many strong parallels there are between this story and our current times. The story takes place during the 19th century in an England with access to a form of silver magic (sorta), but in some ways it might as well be today and AI.

Just waiting for certain politicians to argue that the terror attack on Pride in Berlin is proof that immigrants are a danger to ”western society” and ”our” values. Like they themselves don’t want to limit lgbtqi rights and consider us degenerates.

In 1878, human remains were dug up at Akamella cemetery in Muodoslombolo. They were removed by eugenic “scientists” who wanted to prove that the people in the area, Sámi, Tornedalians, Kvens, and Lantalaiset were lesser than Swedes. They are now being returned. www.svenskakyrkan.se/luleastift/a...
