They’ve cancelled family reunion visas, they’ve cut refugee resettlement, built fences, deployed riot police all leading to more refugees being killed. Now water cannons. Obsessed with anti migrant ideology to the point of designing a system to kill. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Refugee charity says decision to let officers request the devices as part of public order powers is ‘sickening’

We need to be honest. Today is a worrying day for all who believe in sanctuary and our country's diversity. The results so far aren't today’s only story, nor only a story of today, but the fear many of us are feeling must be acknowledged. We also need to talk about hope and how we keep fighting. 🧵

For years, politicians have insisted that scapegoating people seeking sanctuary & throwing migrant communities under the bus is the only way to win election. Yesterday proved what we already knew to be true: people are far kinder and wiser. Our communities stand together. Politicians: take note.

‘The actual story is people crossing a stretch of deadly sea, in unfit boats, who can’t swim, who’ve never driven a boat before, with life jackets that don’t pass muster’ If we were any sort of civilised country we’d be doing everything we could to save their lives.

Any idea of scrapping of tuition fees is for the birds while government continues an ongoing vendetta against migrants. Universities will struggle to survive the lost revenue from International Students. And that’s parking the fiscal catastrophe fewer Migrant workers pose.

In the last week government have announced: -They’re halving the ‘move on period’ for some Refugees, giving them just 28 days to find a home & a job bound to drive a homeless crisis -Slashing refugee family reunion cancelling all applications, driving more into danger

‘Starmer plans electronic ID cards for all to help stop UK boat migrants’ I can’t believe this nonsense is back again. A Trojan Horse policy that hoodwinks all of us into accepting deeply problematic ID cards that won’t remotely impact asylum numbers. inews.co.uk/news/politic...

‘We are not even beginning to understand what it means to have a serious asylum problem’. She’s 100% correct. We have a very serious asylum policy problem, so let’s talk about that instead of demonising the people enduring it.

Whenever you hear ‘Undocumented illegal men’ always know there’s an extremist agenda at play: - 40% of asylum applicants are women & children -100% of asylum applicants undergo biometric screening & checked on international databases -100% of asylum applicants are lawful

As an immigrant, disinfo like this pisses me off. We don't move here penniless. We can't. EVERY international student brings £150K for tuition fees & living expenses. Then we work hard to make that money back and pay taxes. Moving countries & careers is VERY HARD and we do it and we succeed.

Many of us would much rather share our country with people that risked their life to be here, than those who are born here but spend all of their time & energy on resentment, hatred, and conspiring to harm.

🚨We need your help People trapped in the Syrian asylum freeze are going to Parliament on Monday. They need your support. There’s a template letter in the tweet below. Just takes a few clicks to send it to your MP & ask them to attend to support Syrians frozen out of asylum.

The Refugee Convention enshrines you may travel by irregular means to seek protection. Put people in a boat by denying them all other means, then punish the survivors by forcing them back. More lives lost, more damage, more legal challenges, still no courage in leadership.
