Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening. I hope you’re more than okay.

Victoria gets all the bad stuff stuff & cruise corps save close to a billion dollars combined by stopping here in 2026. We get tonnes of garbage, toxic emissions, a “top toxic hotspot” harbour, traffic, noise and our pedestrianized street with idling buses. Bad deal. #yyj #yyjpoli #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Tonight Victoria hosts Carnival Spirit for its weekly pit stop. It’s a regulatory stop to comply with an 1886 American law, and will likely drop off a week’s worth of Alaska cruise garbage so as not to inconvenience Seattle. Look at all the pollution we get in return. youtu.be/0x1ettloXtc

The Carney government has granted 330 polluting cruise ships to dock in Victoria, BC emitting thousands of hours of toxic pollution over the island city and its residents and into the “top toxic hotspot” harbour, killing ecosystems. #yyj #yyjpoli #cdnpoli #climatecrisis @wgreaves.bsky.social

The Trump administration has granted more than 180 polluting facilities nationwide a two-year pause on compliance with Clean Air Act rules. All they had to do was send an email. (Published May)

Happy Cruise Free Day, Victoria! Enjoy the cleaner air, no shuttle buses, or racing taxis. And if you plan to jump in here to say cruise is essential to the local economy…yeah, no. Cruise tourists contribute so little that NON-cruise tourists account for over 98% of tourism spending in the region.

ICYMI, this is what cruise ship garbage looks like. Alaskan 7 day cruises stop on their way back to Seattle to drop off their weeks worth of garbage. That’s right folks, Victoria has a zero waste plan at the same time we accept tonnes of U.S. garbage generated on 330 cruise ships. #yyj #yyjpoli

Hey, Victoria, 3-ship Friday kicks off soon. Bliss, Eurodam, Royal - all arriving from 7p-830p - so brace for speeding taxis, shuttle buses, lots of people looking for free wifi. But look what we get - garbage! Bliss generates lots of haz and non-haz waste and they leave it in Victoria.

The extreme weather that results in wildfires threatening whole communities is becoming much more common because of fossil fuels. And David Eby and Mark Carney are responding by subsidizing more fossil fuel extraction. Not good. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... #bcpoli #bcwildfire #climatecrisis

Victoria has a Zero Waste Plan. How the heck are we supposed to reduce garbage with cruise ships dropping off tons of it every day? Oh right. That’s on residents. We have to reduce our garbage while U.S. ships keep on offloading U.S. garbage. It makes no sense. We shouldn’t accept it. #yyj #yyjpoli

Tonight Victoria hosts Star, Noordam, Encore for regulatory stops required by a US law. While here, they’ll likely drop off a week’s worth of American garbage for about 15,000 passengers and crew. How much? What kind of garbage? BIG SECRET. But images show what we discovered Encore might leave.

Weather and air in Virginia remind me of Karachi, Pakistan. People outside wearing masks. This will be the new normal as climate change continues to destroy the Earth as a result of man's greed and hubris.
