🚨 new publication alert The European Union increasingly faces external pressures. Whilst external pressures always mattered for European integration and EU studies, this article holds that they are more consequential today than in the past.

🚨 Call for papers 👉 With Christian Lequesne (Sciences Po Paris), I am co-editing a special issue on EU Enlargement and Neighborhood Policies. We invite contributions looking at negotiation processes between EU institutions, Member State perspectives, and interactions with candidate countries.

Today marks the start of our new winter term at #LMU I will again be teaching one of my favourite seminars: “Franco-German relations in the European Union“ has an updated syllabus. This time we will be looking more closely into crisis politics and the domestic challenges in both countries.

Excited to attend the conference of the European Union Studies Association (#EUSA) later this week From Thursday to Saturday, I will be involved in four panels: - Presenting a paper on how the China shock affects EU policymaking (Thursday 8.30am local time) 1/3

Happy to spend some time at #Princeton University in spring! I will work on two papers: one on the 50th anniversary of the European Council, another on EU trade policy (couldn’t be more timely these days). Let me know if you are around and also staying a bit longer in the U.S. after #EUSA.
