Hey everyone, I spent the last three years as a Trust and Safety professional researching traditional social media and decided to put words to my thoughts. I hope you find my findings enjoyable or intriguing.
Traditional Social Media as a Prison
Social media apps have become a vehicle for community building, world news, and political campaigns. As app owners have enmeshed themselves more with the state, the carceral logics that haunt marginalized communities offline, became a part of their digital realities online.

@pronouns.northsky.social now has over 270 pronoun combinations! This is a bit unwieldy to handle through liking posts so the pronoun webapp has been updated to include a picker and sync to the profile lexicon! This allows you to choose between 2 and 3 pronoun combinations. pronouns.northsky.app

i think shitting on queer and nonbinary people and blaming them for transphobia is bad actually i think the people doing that right now should soul search and root out the part of them that thinks that joining our oppressors in inflicting cruelty on our siblings will spare them fix your hearts ❤️🩹

Started using @blackskyweb.xyz's Acorn tonight, and holy smokes are they cooking!!! The ATmosphere is going to be enriched so much by communities powered by Acorn. Not sure how much I can/should say yet, so I'll leave it there, but WOW, i'm hella impressed.

I keep seeing people say that Northsky is full of "meangirls.online" & "darkwo.ke" accounts. I can definitively state that only 1.24% of accounts at Northsky have "meangirls.online" & "darkwo.ke" handles. The other 98.76% of Northsky accounts do not. (BTW, two of those seven accounts are suspended)

Did you know that northsky.social hosts 517 active PDSs (accounts) & 46 deactivated PDSs? (That's 563 total.) I can calculate statistics like the most popular DNS TLD domains of all 563 handles:
