I had a whole Some Like It Hot party (manhattans, salami, cheese, crackers) planned for tonight but since my publication date has been unaccountably moved will postpone. But don’t worry will still open something delicious!

At the same time Lemmon worked with Harry Ray and considered makeup as vital for his character - especially lipstick. Together they replicated the 1920s "bee-stung" effect which was even sometimes slightly altered mid scene to emphasize his different expressions.

These studios were the base of United Artists (the films distributors) as well as Billy Wilder and Iz Diamond's Ashton Productions as well as lots of other independents. It had started as Pickford-Fairbanks Studios and I love this picture of Mary and Douglas putting up the sign in 1922.

Slightly blurry photo shows a background of the Hollywood Hills and a lot with some properties on it. The main image is a curved sign that reads Pickford-Fairbanks Studios and shows Mary up a ladder with Douglas next to her with his arms outspread. He looks thrilled.

(Am a bit behind with my #OTD for Some Like It Hot but lets continue!!) With the production now in its third week the focus was the sequences in the interior sets of the Pullman carriages. These - along with the other interior scenes were created on the sound stages of Goldwyn Studios.
