Do you know of a higher ed dance programme that’s either been axed or restructured out of recognition? I’m thinking mainly UK context, but happy to hear of others. Or if/where it might be thriving. Please comment below if you have thoughts or experience. It’s for something I’ll be writing on soon.
Something else I’m working on. Thursday lunchtime at the Yoga Darśana Yoga Sādhana conference, 27-29 May, Campus Condorcet, 8 cours des Humanités, Paris.

I’m very honoured to give this lecture as part of the DiPIKA (Digital Preservation of Kerala Archives) Project new series. All welcome. In person if you’re around Thrissur on December 10th, or else online (QR code to join in the poster).
When I set out to turn my research into a PhD, my hope was that the thesis would be useful to people invested or interested in kaḷarippayaṟṟ˘. So I was touched and thrilled today to find that someone had found it interesting enough to take the trouble to print it out for easier reading.
The talk I gave for the SOAS Centre of Yoga Studies a couple of weeks ago is now on YouTube, for anyone who missed it and would like to catch up. youtu.be/xlqc74S5lC4?...

Things you find while packing. It’s an awkwardly sized certificate, so it had lain upsidedown in a drawer for a while. I’d just forgotten which one.
December roses for all of us flowering in adversity. The bud somehow survived Storm Darragh.
Hakama cleaning and folding rituals after yesterday’s British Aikido Federation course in Cardiff. These (totally impractical) training garments stand both for relative status (or gender) and also submission to the system. A beautiful day after the storm, fallen tree before the dojo, and fun.

The clouds finally parted so I’m sitting next to a ladybird stealing a moment between studio and laptop.
Just out. I have a chapter in this on kaỊari, its relationship to performance and South Indian contemporary dance. ✨
