I wish I could tell myself there isn't a platonic ideal of software engineering methodologies. That there is more than one way of doing things that is Good™.

Star Trek captains are great role models for technology governance. They see a harmful technology and… don't use it. They see a technology that can be harmful and… develop policies for themselves for how to use it responsibly.
You know what's rage bait? Canvas grading announcements. 'Your assignment was graded' but they won't tell you the grade without opening the slow app
writing code can make you a good programmer . deleting code is what makes you a great programmer
They stole over 3 TB of data from Canvas but 2 TB is just required syllabus language copied from a university website.
Tip 💡 You can build a Kagi Lens for shopping that only pulls from specific sources you want to support, like independent stores and small businesses. Put your money where your values are.

I don't understand why brands would make their low tier products crappy. If I have a bad experience with a brand I'm not buying from them again
Someone recently told me that their sister's grades improved by a whole letter when they started using Harper. Warm fuzzy feelings all around.

As @davidpierce.xyz keeps saying, AI is fundamentally enterprise tech! I am convinced shoving it onto consumers without actually-great products is like forcing everyone to really really consider the consequences of giving SAP first-strike capabilities
Quinnipiac poll: 55% of Americans say AI will do more harm than good in their day-to-day lives, and 65% oppose building data centers in their community (Emily Birnbaum/Bloomberg) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink
From my inbox Wrong: Most AI coding output is not mediocre because the tool was not well co figured: It’s mediocre because most code out in the open IS mediocre, and (most importantly) most devs don’t know how to write high quality code. And this was true even before AI!!
huh, just realized that the copilot button on windows is an instant fail button for exams

Microsoft complied with a warrant to hand over BitLocker recovery keys to the FBI, and privacy advocates are worried.
