Always amazed at how much @christophcondon.bsky.social can fit in an issue and always amazed at how pretty @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social can make a page. Absolutely loved the beginning of Ez’s story, can’t wait to see where it goes from here. Incredibly fertile ground, we need more Nazi punching!
Late to the party, just glad I made it at all! @pornsak.bsky.social and @aaroncampbellarts.com craft a story that’s even smarter than it is horrifying—and it’s pretty blatantly horrifying. Compelling characters represent sides of complex arguments, but it all ends up simple-ish and good. Loved it!
@christophcondon.bsky.social and co. continue to kill it on this book, three for three as my pick of the week! This issue really narrows in on the characters and horror—and why you should be afraid of the basement—in a cinematic movement towards the bigger scope of the story. Great book!
An expression of perfect empathy that takes twelve issues to come home, I would’ve read a whole series that focussed on one of the ideas in this issue alone. Perfect, tear-jerking work. Thank you, @denizcamp.bsky.social and @javierrodriguez.bsky.social. You’ve created an all-time favorite for many.
Part of the power of this book is watching its scale become clearer in front of you. And, holy shit! This issue is a BLAST! @christophcondon.bsky.social shows us new sides of Ez while @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social brings new levels of action brilliance. Scale, folks. The Nazi robots have *SPOILER*!
The comic I’m most excited about right now! Perfectly crafted narrative surrounded by gorgeous page work (art, colors, and letters) that creates a creepy, lovable story I just can’t wait to read. Both issues have been excellent and inspiring, the kind of art that asks you to make art right back.
OF THE EARTH issue two is out TODAY. Words: Andrew Ehrich & me Art: Charlie Adlard Color: @pipmartin.bsky.social Letters: Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou Design: @tivey.bsky.social Variant: Jeffrey Alan Love Pub: @imagecomics.com
Spent the last few nights rereading @christophcondon.bsky.social and @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social’s That Texas Blood. One of my favorites, it was a huge joy revisiting these stories ahead of the relaunch. It’s perfect comics storytelling, and it has me wanting to write the hell out of some comics.
Been rereading ED+D and it’s a treat. @tatebrombal.bsky.social and @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social perfectly bring to life a whole cast of characters—whether alive or not—and expertly talk about complicated emotions in clever, new ways. @pipmartin.bsky.social and @adityab.net are simply experts, too.
There are currently more bills attacking trans youth’s right to play sports across the U.S. than there are trans youth in school sports.
@christophcondon.bsky.social and @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social are masters of the medium, and this issue really shows that off. Huge ideas next to human ones, perfect pacing, excellent character work. There’s one panel that was so, so effective for me—a moment where the whole series came into focus
If I were a better writer I’d be able to express how excited I am for this

Reread, reloved. Condon and Ehrich take a complicated character—with a lot going on—and perfectly showcase exactly who they are in this moment. You know Tabby by the end of these pages, and you’re worried about what she’s going through. Which is a whole lot. Check this book out!!
Unsurprisingly fantastic. A masterclass first issue, perfect horror set-up that paints a character brilliantly. @christophcondon.bsky.social, Ehrich, Adlard, @pipmartin.bsky.social, Otsmane-Elhaou, and Tivey are a force to be reckoned with. My favorite #1 in a while, I was absolutely blown away!

One of these issues is a long hug followed by a knife to the gut, the other is a dozen stab wounds followed by a tener kiss. I daren’t spoil which is which. Thank you all for your work, @denizcamp.bsky.social, @javierrodriguez.bsky.social, and @stipanmorian.bsky.social. Genius stuff, I’m spoiled!
7 dollar gas. Well, I guess I'll buy an electric car. Oh those are 60 thousand dollars? Well at least electricity is cheap. Oh the government won't build solar panels because it's "Too transgender"? Well at least wages are going up. Oh the idea of jobs is fake now? Well at least everyone is happ
Spent the weekend asking Vertigo writers to draw their characters! Maybe did some other things too. @christophcondon.bsky.social and @thekylestarks.bsky.social are awesome, thanks so much for being a big part of a great weekend!
Had the pleasure of sitting down with @philhester.bsky.social and talking all things process, Green Arrow, A Quiet Place, Gotham City: Year One, and some good ol’ fashioned industry talk. Give it a listen! open.spotify.com/episode/5ccC...

@davechisholmcomics.com is very good at making comic books! I noticed some really subtle, smart bits of this book that I didn’t see the first time around that impressed me. This is a well-planned, clever story that deserves the eyes of the industry. Excited to get deeper into this story!
Wasn’t prepared to love this book as much as I did. @ryannorth.ca brings the funny and heart while @gavinguidry.bsky.social captures humanity. And they both capture The Flash™️. This is a perfect understanding of Flash, the perfect tone and energy. Cannot wait to see the stories these guys will tell.
22 pages of why @thatjacobphillips.bsky.social is awesome. Gorgeous, gorgeous comic book that’s beautifully paced by @christophcondon.bsky.social. This is—intentionally, I think—a book that you set down and feel a deep, guttural “WHAT’S NEXT??”. There’s so much intrigue and a perfect cliffhanger!
@denizcamp.bsky.social, @javierrodriguez.bsky.social, and Otsmane-Elhaou are a fucking force of the medium. I absolutely loved the descriptions/ideas around war and borders, and the visuals absolutely nail all of the wild things happening. I adore this comic book, can’t wait to reread and reread
If @danpgwatters.bsky.social wants to talk about highways for the next year, I’m here. @denyscowan.bsky.social absolutely nails this issue and I’m super excited to see where this team is taking this character. I’ve never seen a writer pivot so hard, so successfully on a book like this. Very exciting
@tatebrombal.bsky.social takes a huge swing on his first issue, something pretty risky for a superhero first issue. And he absolutely nails it. A metanarrative that’s perfectly suited for this team, I cannot wait to see where this one’s going. It’s very clear there’s a big plan, and I’m here for it!
@gregrucka.com. DaNi. Hollingsworth. Otsmane-Elhaou. A gorgeously-executed comic by the best in the business. Absolutely loved the framing device and the central question posed to us, it’s such a great way to ask something we’re all dealing with and to show how Kate stands against… all of it
@thekylestarks.bsky.social and @stevepugh.bsky.social are fucking hilarious amidst a sea of good stuff. It’s amazing how quickly my opinion of Eddie’s dad changed with this issue, and the world-building of Pluto is next level. Plus that’s only half the issue, there’s STILL a great Eddie scene after!
This book does everything an indie first should: It’s oversized, which allows both the plot and story to actually begin. It’s a stand-alone story with opportunity for more. And it’s really, really good! Sets up a wonderful vibe with an instantly-recognizable character. And he has a great goal.
IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT... is a brand new ongoing sci-fi epic from myself, @andymacdonald.bsky.social, Mark Elijah Rosenberg, @francescosegala.bsky.social, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and @imagecomics.com. In comic shops this May! Check out Andy and Francesco's amazing cover to issue #1.
